When I get toward the end of tournies I usually listen to something classical, or instrumental film scores (Lord of the Rings scores are excellent). Need to be nice and calm rather than pumped up. Got a nice gregorian chant-type thing that does the trick as well.

Music is very important, because there are many table talkers in casino. I really hate the most of them, but there are some people who are ok ;) If someone is talking to much or the table is a boring one, just listen to music. But you have to becareful to see if someone raises the pot.

I used to love bluegrass in my younger years. Now more into REM, Barenaked Ladies, Chris Daughtry and so many more lol.

I work in Kennesaw Littlesip - we are practically neighbors. If you ever play anywhere local let me know. I would like for my husband to hear some good bluegrass. He spent a lot of years in ireland and the sounds are similar in some ways to Irish music.

I always used to listen to music while playing but then I read some advice on a poker site that said music can be very distracting while you're playing so I don't do it as much now. What do you guys think?

Thanks Dakota. The Irish Reels are great music also. Guess it's that gene thing, I'm part Irish - lol. I just have a few folks over a few time a year to play Bluegrass at my home. Usually we get smashed and play fiddle, mandoline, guitar and banjo.

A BBQ of course.

That sounds like fun and brings back some memories!

I listen to nature or new age music all the time. Keeps me focused and calm so I don't do something stupid or reactionary when people seem to go nuts with betting or I'm bored cause I've spent a couple hours playing and not one descent hand.

I listen to Varja Chants before and between live games keeps me calm and centered. Listen to the chatter at the tables, I learn a lot about my opponents that way.

After a bad beat, Cheryl Crow's Soak up the sun runs through my head.

at home, usually the TV is on in the background.

Online, it completely depends on mood for me - sometimes it's hip hop, sometimes it's black metal and sometimes it's nothing. Some days it helps me relax and play better, others it just saps my concentration.

Live, it's invariably either Royal Crown Revue or whatever horrible 80s rubbish my regular poker bar has playing. I never play live with headphones in though: just feel like I miss out on too much information. And if I'm that bored that I need music playing to keep me entertained, I'm probably not going to be playing my best game anyway.

I have a collection of 70s and 80s faves ripped to MP3, plus a peer-to-peer service that lets me add new ones. Sometimes I'll put on local internet radio instead, usually an 80s or 90s retro station.

One issue I have is WMP10 hogging CPU resources, especially with the p2p service going at the same time. (The p2p service hogging bandwith has never been a problem.) If anyone can recommend a CPU-sipper player with shuffle and repeat, please do.

I have started to shut off the TV and listen to some ambient downtempo stuff on the internet. I use iTunes. I despise Micro$haft with a passion, so WMP is right out. It doesn't seem like iTunes uses much in the way of CPU.

There is a guy named Greg Haptor that plays perfect poker music. You can find him on myspace if you type his name under the music tab. The one song "You and Me" is awesome

If I'm playing LAG, then I listen to rap, if I'm playing TAG, then I listen to trance, if I'm playing TAP, then I listen to rock.

I listen to whatever comes up on my Winamp or Itunes. If I don't like it it's easy to skip to the next song. I have never listened to music while playing live, but my Ipod is dead so I can't really try it out right now.
