How should multi-tabling affect your bankroll mngt? I'm speaking mainly of FLHE here but also interested in thoughts on NL. If you're rolled for a certain limit, how does playing 2,3,4 tables impact that? Should I only be playing 1 table for every 300bb I have?

Most people believe in the 5% of your BR as a buy-in. So when I multi-table, I take that amout and divide by how many tables I will be playing. If I was going to sit a 1 table for $100, then just play 4 tables with $25 at each table, at a lower level of course. This is jsut what I try and do.

The reason for bankroll management is to protect your bankroll from varience. The number of talbes you play shouldn't effect what limits you play The more tables you play at a time will reduce the variance you should encounter per session. you do have to realize that if you are running really bad you have to reevaluate your bankroll and need to decide if you should move down a limit based on how much you have left in your bankroll.

Thanks. So in a way, multitabling could be considered "safer" In a way due to spreading out the variance. although if things are running bad, it could get ugly.

Sounds likey night last night which had me rethinking how I was applying my bankroll strategy. Fairly new at this so still learning the INS and outs

As long as you're not more likely to tilt this is right. If it's your first time multi-tabling though I'd maybe drop down a level to make sure you get the hang of it then move back up when you're comfortable.

Like pi said, you shouldn't have to drop down in levels to keep it within proper BRM rules. You just have to be more aware of how you're playing. Multiple tables spreads the variance out which is to your benefit if you can handle multiple tables, but when variance turns on you and you start to suffer, you have to realize that, and if you're a player who tends to tilt easily after a couple beats, you should probably stop playing for a little while, because it's only going to hurt your BR trying to make that money back.
