To muck or not to muck..........that is the question. Apart from the fact that I absolutely detest the word 'muck', the use of the term in poker is one that players really should understand. Setting the default muck box to muck isn't always the best part of your strategy....strategy? Yes, you should have a strategy and to muck or not should be part of that. As previously stated in this thread, mucking when not required to is part of telling the rest of the table what your approach to the game is. If you are UTG and say, raise x2.5 with AA and everyone else folds, maybe showing your cards isn't that much a bad idea. Cos next time you raise UTG with 27o..... will you win the blinds? Or next time you x4raise AA does that start them thinking you have some lesser cards than AA? The most often showing of cards that I see is the BB who shows when everyone else folds towards him, usually when they have a holding of something like 72o.
Best thing is to start thinking how showing gives you the opportunity to influence your opponents play.
