For about the past two months I have been working very hard on my game and have started getting the results in Mtt’s. I don’t have to exact numbers but I feel like my cash rate is good and even when I’m not cashing I’m still making deep runs around the money bubble. However when I go over and try to play some cash games I just get crushed when I’m struggling to find spots I’m making huge mistakes or leaks. What parts of my game should I focus on to go from tournaments to cash the most? Thanks

I really apreciate your post, this is one doubt I have too,I really like playing MTT´s but when I try cash game I got confused and it seems for me that it´s another game different from MTT´s because there is too much money involved.

In MTTs the key is survival, cash games are different, you need to be aggressive, tight aggressive preferably.

I prefer more MTT than cash table because i feel more good playing a tourney, you can lose all your bankroll in one cash table but in a MTT you can not lose a lot of money, for example when I play tournaments I do not use the rebuy option

What parts of my game should I focus on to go from tournaments to cash the most?

For anyone to be able to answer you correctly, you should give more info about how you play tournaments, what is you basic strategy, maybe even some example.. :)
I play both cash games and MTTs and am solid at both. Now, there are some things overlapping between those two, but also there are some differences.

For me, playing tournaments really means finding spots and maximizing the profit, not going all in with AK (as many tend to do), and also, adjusting my gameplay based on amount of BB I have (more bluffs as a chip leader, and vice versa).
On the other hand, while playing cash games, I tend to open more hands, as well as call more hands when in position. I am also 3-betting a lot, trying to come over the top most of the times. My game is definitely more aggressive in cash games.
One thing I do the same in both MTTs and cash games, are all in situations. I don't like to coin flip, never calling all in with Ax preflop, also, I will call someone's all in only when I do have it, or if I have a dead read on someone.

It's a mistake to think that microstakes players are all donks and fish. Things have changed so much the last few years and we have to adapt or die. Study and keen observation will help

I prefer cash games because you can game select and quit whenever you want.

I choose MTT's for their huge prizes, but cash games are more stable. Therefore i play both. But I play in MTT's much more :)

If you make a profit in MTT, then why should you go into cash games? If your task is to make a profit - you have achieved it and improve that area of poker that you already know, which will increase your profit, rather than waste time studying cash games as there is a completely different poker that has almost nothing to do with tournaments.

Stick with what you're good or comfortable at is my opinion, but if you want to grind cash games, study and practice.

Well first step to win better in cash games is to observe your opponent carefully. In most micro and medium tables you will see most players play with a "specific" pattern and style. NO doubt everyone has their specific style of playing but priority here should be to be able to dodge them and start to look for ways of how to extract chips of them with a clear strategy in mind. Moreover, here the buy in amount matters too. If someone sits with 50-100 big b's it would be tougher to extract chips of him then a guy who sits with 20-30 big b's.The key here is you are going to play with same people in cash game over a session, this means you must "understand" and "study" their each move carefully. In tournaments, its quite not the case since the blinds are constantly increasing and so does the players keep changing, but in cash games priority must be given to spotting loopholes of your opponent which only comes by constant observation and study.....

I find MTT live much more enjoyable but online I feel like they can drone on a bit.

These are two different categories of poker. I think to be successful, you need to choose one thing. After all, not many players have succeeded both in cache and in MTT

personally I prefer cash tables, but only for a matter of time. in a mtt you pose a long-term game, being more selective in the ranks. the cash requires another perception in terms of the rivals and wider or free ranges. I think the biggest difference is psychological, in one mistake, and you're out in cash, you can continue

for the sake of the MTT are more attractive because in the initial stages there are many weak players and they can get a good stack for the game in later stages. well, besides, it's just fun, especially knockout tournaments where people for the sake of knockout are ready to put all in with a very weak hand

interesting I am a cash game player I think its much more lucrative in live poker to play cash games because you can play loose agressively and no danger of busting out.
