A lot of times I've been deep stacked in a tournament on pokerstars I'll be moved to another table with the majority deep stacked also. Now I don't know if I selectively remember the times I get moved to a deep stacked table and forget about the times I get left on a shorter table, I'm not sure.

I've spoke about it with other players and I was wondering whether table moving is done completely randomly or selectively? I've heard people say both.

Does anyone have a definite answer on this?

I have definitely noticed, when u move tables, or the software moves you to another table, i am almost all the time placed on a table similar to my stack, so i would say yes, its very possible, aldou sometimes but very rarely i get to move to a table with short stack, this usually happens at the beginning if i make a big stack early on, then no matter the table, all of them are short stacked compared to you :D

I've noticed the stacks at my tables have been pretty mixed. I'm also very new to the poker world. :)

it should be random, but conspiracy theorists will say otherwise.

Think of this though, when you get moved its because shorter stacks are being eliminated, and most of the stacks should be somewhere above or below average, half the time you can expect other stacks to be more above average, and half the time below....you may not be noticing the times you are at a table when they are even or slightly under. Just a thought.

It would be VERY difficult, and meaningless, to move higher stacks to the same table, there is zero benefit (that I can see) for the website to do this, and the programming would be difficult, and very noticeable to the players

For me its been very different experiences from place to place. Bovada, every single time im moved its usually after I have doubled up or more and immediately get moved to a table where the biggest stack is to my left. I mean I can almost call the shot when im about to get moved its so frequent and constant. Americas cardroom so far ive had my best luck on moves. They have never, not a single time, moved me into the blinds. Even if I was about to eat the blinds on another table. Ive been moved into big stacks and small stacks. I was even moved onto a table with 7 players where 5 of them were inactive, so I was basically heads up for about 10 minutes. Club wpt though is the worst organized. While stacks are all over the place, you will get moved into the blinds constantly. Late in a sunday tournament once I was moved 4 times in 6 hands and ate at least a portion of a blind in all 4 moves.

they say its random, but tell me how is it??? you enter a tourney with 2.5 hour late reg with 1000 players and a tourney with same late reg with 10 000 players (real money of course no freerolls) Why is it the bubble is busted roughly 1 hour after late reg???? its the sites way to balance the chip stacks.

Test it out before you disagree with me

They say it's random, but I don't believe. When you're full stacked you go to tables with peoples MORE STACKEDS than you, and when you're low stack, you go to tables with players like you

Balancing chip stacks does nothing to make the site more money...the reason late reg goes so long is for rake purposes and to avoid layovers. Just because the bubble happens right after means nothing...just a way to entice late regs to join in

I didn't say it made the site money... Just funny how the small stacks get thrown to a monster stack table and the timing of the bubble. Typically the chips should be about even on all tables (I mean by adding the 9 players together) Im not saying its a conspiracy or anything I could care less but my bubble math is right on PS anyway.... doesn't matter entrants between 1 hour to 1.15 hours after late reg the bubble pops

yeah its designed that way to entice late regs to join, some people swear the best way to play is reg right before cut off, I disagree but thats a different thread...the screw job is for those that think there will be an overlay when the reg at the beginning, because thats always a plus ev move if you think the overlay will exist, but it typically is not to be by the end, I absolutely HATE how late the reg period is and is why I seldom ever play MTTS with guarantees

the stack thing, its hit or miss, and random does include doing the same thing a few times in a row, maybe even many times in a row, otherwise it would not be random...while dealing big MTTS at wsop we move tables ever 30 minutes, and you will often times come across the same thing, lots of big stacks at one table, and so forth, it just happens, smaller tourneys however move players based on position which is much better, but doing that in big MTTS live or online is hard to do logistically
