Ultimate Bet was actually my favorite site, prior to Black Friday. Sure, I liked Stars and Tilt, but UB seemed to be just the right size as far as tournament fields. Of course, before I put my trust in Ultimate Bet, I looked into the cheating scandal to satisfy myself that it was in the past and no longer an issue. I read several articles and watched multiple videos, including the 60 Minutes feature.
I thought I had all the facts regarding this story, including the fact that former Main Event Champion Russ Hamilton was also a world champion class cheat and the central figure and main beneficiary involved in the UB/AP cheating scandal. But just having watched the Ultimate Beat trailer, it appeared to allude to the fact that Russ Hamilton may not have been the mastermind behind it all. It seemed to hint that rather being the architect responsible for the whole scheme, as we had been led to believe up to this point, Russ Hamilton may have just been the fall guy that took one for team, and that the scandal may have reached further and higher than previously thought.
I have to say that my curiosity is definitely piqued. I can't help but wonder if any of this has to do with why Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker seemed to simply evaporate after Black Friday. Perhaps not. But if just seeing the trailer has me wondering and asking questions, then it has to be worth watching. I'm definitely going have to make time to watch this.
