Who would this title belong too? Who is up the most in here? What was your biggest cash in a tournament if that's how you won.

Lol at thinking that somehow whoever has the biggest donkament score is the most successful poker player....lol.

90%+ successful poker players play predominantly cash.

But the MOST successful would all be tournament players. :)

Im going to go ahead and assume that is sarcasm, lol.

No, for those who are a bit less experienced in poker, they would not be, lol.

That is unless happiness is being counted as part of success here, lol...they do seem happier IRL.

Lol, Nano has won millions and basically has a way to make hundreds of thousands a yr without any risk at this point...at least for a few more yrs.

A donkament score of huge proportions often times is offset by staking, taxes(worse for donkament players generally), make up...etc. etc.

PLUS, the volatility of donkament play at high levels with relatively low volume has innate costs too...stress, etc.

Anyone who really knows the poker world knows cash game kings have almost all the real money in the poker world.

AFAIK within poker CASH = SUCCESS.

Didn't take a rocket scientist to deduct from the OP's first post that he is talking about who has won the most money here at CC - and that would definitely be tournament players. :p

A discussion on who the most all around successful players in the world are is a separate discussion.

I don't think I'm top ten by any means but I've won over 60k on line. I've only cashed out for about 30k and lost 30k back but I imagine this is pretty common, after all you have to spend money to make money. I've been playing online since 2007 and my biggest cash was about 4300. Believe it or not I won most of it in 2007, probably beginners luck, lol. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

Ps I've won over 20k in live tournys but dont get out to the casinos much, since the closest one to me is about an hour away.

I play MTTs....I like MTTs, and right now I enjoy MTTs immensely...in fact I would play a ton live if money were no object; they're super enjoyable and fun with a payoff that cant be matched in live play.

Unfortunately, MTT play isnt near as lucrative as cash play...and that is the way it is. The whys behind that phenomenon has to do with rake insanity, structures which level the playing field to some degree and insane volatility which push most serious MTT players into disadvantageous staking agreement/make up, etc.

Can you make money in MTTs, sure.

Do a VERY select portion of the MTT community get rich off of playing them...yes, a VERY small portion do.

But overall cash is just many times as lucrative as donkament play at mid/high levels.

If you dont like it, dont lash out at me.

p.s.

If you can direct me to a mid stakes Razz ring game online for US players I might take you up on your offer.:icon_chee

I know plenty of MTT players ranging from averagely to very profitable. There are plenty of regs on every site making good money from MTTs. IMO MTTs are more profitable than cash, mid/high stakes regs play a bunch of tables and as you move up and there's less table choice tables become more and more reg filled. While there are some tournies which are reg filled its easy enough to game select with the choice out there.

What rake insanity are we talking about? Are you sure your not referring to micro/low stakes cash games? MTTs have like 10% rake, that's hardly ridic high. Structures tend to be good, very good if you game select, shit if you play live but lol at the idea of playing live MTTs for a living. Very very few people do it and most who do only start once they've had a big score I imagine.

Disadvantageous staking agreement/make up is really vague, not all staking agreements are bad. Most are if you play for a living but only up to/after a certain stage, they can still be very useful and if you agree to a bad staking deal you're an idiot. There's staking in cash games too with makeup so you know

Volatility is the main problem with MTTs but thats easily countered by just playing serious volume which you should be doing if you play cash.

There's a VERY select portion of the cash community who play ridic high stakes cash and basically just bum hunt fish either in funny games like Razz or heads up, but play lower than that and tables are just reggy and shit and boring. MTTs are ****ing awesome

I only play MTT's! The only time I do cash is when I'm drinking with my buddies at the casino.

My 2 cents worth is that it is easier to make money in cash games. There were times when I would go online and win 25 or 30 dollars in 5 minutes of play off of Donks who had no idea what they were doing. My problem was at this time I was a beginner and I knew nothing of proper BRM. I played 25c 50c blinds with a bankroll of about 150. That was stupid I lost a large Chunk of it to a fish who made a very bad call and caught a lucky river. Had I exercised proper BRM, I wouldn't have lost such a huge chunk. I would suggest cash games you can make money faster
