i play alot of of low limit poker. usually on stars but sometmes full tilt as well. all of my cash comes from freerolls or friends.

with that being said. why are players so silly in these low limit games? today for example, 2 different 1.10 4 man tourneys, same hand gets beat by trash. in both the blinds are 50/100 and about 22-30 players left. both times i get JJ and have around a 2k stack. i raise to 400 and get reraised allin by A rag in both tourneys. why do players believe holding Ax is so powerful? of course they flop the A but still they had no business callin and of course shoving there.

seems like there is no respect in micro limits. another example KK utg. got 1.09 on 1c/2c nl table. i take no chances and shove all in. next to act has A q and calls. rest of table folds. 1.09 on A again and of course A flops. should they call these pots? am i raising bad? or just taking semi bad beats here? anything i can do to improve my play?

Play cash games instead, it's better for your health imo. Yea cash game variance can be brutal at times, but it's way less than in MTT's and SnG's.

Thats the joy of tournaments.

Any Ace is really only a 2.5:1 underdog to a made pair. You were just venturing into shortstack teritry (you had only 20 x BB left)

If you add to that Any pair TT or higher then its about 1.75:1

The odds really arnt that bad. Plus there is a good chance that you might fold. This dosnt seem too bad a short stack stratagy in a tournament.

You callled an All in with JJ.

So you are an underdog to AA KK QQ, And around the coinflip mark with Aks AQs KQs. You call an all in to someone with position to you.. and its a suckout because you lost???

The problem here is you called the all in.

The power of the all in is fold equity. By calling an all in you have 0 fold equity, its all about the cards you hold. You are ahead of his range.. but not by as much as you think. Hence you will loose more often than you feel is appropriate.

The thing with all-ins is you want to be the person making the raise not calling it. Dont call an all in without AA KK or AK but feel free to raise to all in with far far less.

To answer one question, yes you are raising bad. Raising 50x BB on any table is pretty crazy. Even when you're playing a 1/2c table, why risk pushing them outta the hand with the second strongest starting hand in poker just to win 3c? Raise 3-5x BB and let him hit his queen on the flop then stack him, he'll probably even be willing to stack off on a flop of say JK2 with his gutshot when you have a set. By raising all in preflop like this you're just giving away any chance of outplaying him postflop, which should be pretty easy against a donk like this at those limits.

good idea i think i was tilting a little due to just losing the other 2 tourneys with JJ. but yes i see your point. i have always been a bully with big pairs. i need o change my strategy a little and play smarter
