Came across this, and I'm actually half-interested...

Basically, David Micon, a successful player (online and live) wants to make some extra dough, so he decided to sell his strategies in a package including his audio, a cheat sheet, and made his own discussion forum.

Dunno why this particular one interests me so much, but I'm most probably not gonna waste $150 on it :/

I guess there's nothing he's selling that I haven't read in a poker book already...but surely someone with that much success (see his site for how many tourneys hes won/cashed in) has to know something we don't about winning these things that consistantly?

or of course it could just be garbage :p
I'm not going to post the site address, but if you're curious, just search it.

If he's that successful why does he need/want to sell it ? ;)

Why do poker players sell books on strategy?

Good point though...

quite frankly, I don't know...he's got dozens of screenshots of tournaments he's won and cashed in (most of them within a month's time; he also just placed in the ME for 200K), and says he makes enough to live off of with poker, but he's probably just starting this "Micon System" business to have something to fall back on...

Can't spend the money for it but it looks interesting enough. I'm curious what these "secret systems" are?

I get an email about this probly once a week. I was thinking about buying it a while back. From the reviews I've read theres no real secret to it, just basic tournament stratagy you can learn in any poker forum. I dont know from experience though, thats just what I've read.

Does sound interesting, but don't you think if we put our heads together we might just find winning strategies ourselves?.............Something to think about.:icon_scra
I mean aren't we learning from eachother already?
A show of hands...........How many of you have seen your game improve since joining this forum?
Need I say more..............:)

True but the thing that you're paying for is his experience. It's great we can all have this forum to improve our game, but keep in mind we are (mostly) amateur players. Just like with a poker book, you'd be buying his information that he acquired through years of experience. Not only that, but this is specified to online poker; something that not many books are based on.

I know micon a bit and although his book has sold well, I'm sure most the better players here can share just as much knowledge, saving you $150.

Here's what Grumbledook thinks of it:

I thought it was really poor and you can get more in depth info for less via other means

reminds me I need to enquire about a refund
I must admit... the product is grossly overpriced.

I was actually considering buying it (thinking it was <$50) before I saw the pricetag

tbh what really caught my eye was the cheatsheet :p I'm a sucker for charts, and that looks like a mighty fine one...

I am currently printing one I found on the internet. Send my $30.00 and I'll e-mail it to you. Satisfaction guaranteed. If I'm not satisfied with your money, I'll return it. :D

But seriously, I can't think of any chart that I've seen anywhere that I wasn't able to either easily replicate myself or, even better, find for free on the internet.

And, since Nick sort of knows Micon (my con, that was funny), maybe he could arrange for a free "Forum Copy" for a small group of select individuals (including me) to evaluate it.:) If it is worth the price tag after we review it, you could possibly work out a deal for an affiliate like cut for recommending it. If it isn't worth it, then it goes bye bye and Chuck gets an up close and personal look at the cheatsheets he likes.

No, he doesn't have to know something we don't.

I'm fairly confident that you know what you need to know, Chuck. It's understanding it and executing it that makes most of us fall short of excellence, not the knowledge itself.

"Wisdom is realizing what you already know," I read somewhere.

Just checked this out, out of interest because i've never actually heard of him. He lists his own winnings on his website with all the pride of a probable underachiever. He's not making a great profit from what I can see.

$150 to get the advice from a guy who can only achieve a 2% ROI over several hundred MTTs. He must be on a cold-streak eh, hence the price. ;)
