I want to immediately clarify that I do not consider meditation through the prism of spirituality or religion. My attitude to meditation as an instrument for the development of consciousness and self-knowledge. I have had meditation experience in university for three years. I think this played a role in the development of me as an adult and adequate person. Again start practicing meditation was prompted by a number of scientific articles and a desire to improve my psycho-emotional state when playing poker. Who had the experience please share.

Meditation helps to develop a calm state that is fundamental in the game of poker ... it also helps to maintain focus and concentration that are also essential to the game of poker.

Let's try to work out a practical guide for meditation for the laity?

You have time for yourself, and self-critiquing is critical to improving your attitudes. I like to meditate and always try to read articles about it to continuously improve my attitudes and correct my mistakes.

I use the method of concentration on breathing. I am very interested in how meditation affected the game of poker. I meditate after a break for a week, here I will share the results and changes in a positive or negative direction.

I always play better after I meditate, I think it brings a calmness and clarity which helps me think more deeply when in hands. I heard Kid Poker once say that he has a method of meditating at the table when in long tournaments.

surely a meditative process before playing greatly benefits the player or in any area of life. It helps us to enter state of flux during sessions

I've just come from a Thread where they're talking about smoking weed to help them focus their concentration...

So it makes sense meditation would also be considered a better alternative...

I've not got much going on in my mind to quieten or make still... you know what they say about simple things and simple minds, so I'm quite content, Though still interested in any thing that can improve my game... I've studied this Video over and again but it doesn't help!

Mindfulness

One of the best things you can do is take time to meditate, but from a psychological perspective this does not have to necessarily include emptying the mind like in Buddhism. A lot of times it is good to take in awareness of your current bodily sensations so that you can analyze what state you are in. This way if you are in an ideal state, you can internalize what that feels like and more easily return to that state when needed. Additionally if you recognize you are in a state alternative to ideal, you can purposefully direct your mind to a more ideal state. This can be particularly helpful with tilt control.

Ex. If you begin meditating after a bad beat online and notice you internal processes include muscle tensions and angry and negative thoughts, you can purposefully direct yourself to breath deeply, relax tense muscles and repeat logically-driven statements.

I do not meddle before playing poker, just trying to be calm, and if I'm tired I do not play. In fact I do not even know what to meditate .. :) give us some tips how do you practice this meditation.

Our 5th grade teacher taught the class how to meditate but I haven't done any since.
Though I think now that I'm older, it seems like something I'd be more interested in doing. Along with yoga too! :) :) :)

Meditation during long tournaments is necessary. Unfortunately, I only saw how tricky German players meditate during the tournament:D.

For me, meditation is first of all bringing the mind to a state of calm, discarding unnecessary informational, psycho-emotional noise. To start, learn not to think about nothing. To do this, find a quiet place at home, set the timer on the phone for 5 minutes, close your eyes and try to focus on how you breathe. If you understand what you have lost and think about something else, start thinking about your breathing and so on. Do 2-3 times a day for 5-7 minutes.

Hi!!!I think meditation will help to cope with the problems in the game, even fully knowing the mathematics of poker, possessing all the Parallels of combat, meditation will not help).well, this is my personal opinion, can only help to relax for a while...no pain...you will be temporarily isolated from problems by this method, perhaps I am wrong, there is a Buddha in the world!!!good luck!

I would have thought it certainly helps against tilt. The more calm and less emotional you can be about you decisions at the table the better you will be.

And not only to the decisions at the table, it is not clear where more benefits in poker or life.

This is one of the basics of a good game for me. She helps me a lot. I would advise everyone to try, and then choose what is more suitable.

I tried meditation while attending cardiac rehab after my bypass...I was able to achieve a relaxed state while listening to the psychologists voice on a cd...he suggested I try listening to music. I put on some of my favourite music from the 60s, but got so into it, I could not relax enough to meditate. When I play live at a casino, I just try to greet all my opponents and may be a little chatty at first to get relaxed. Meditation did not really work for me.

I enjoyed this thread, and Im going to look for some more information online My response time, to titling has become smaller and I snap back pretty quickly. I think its from taking some time off poker for a few weeks. But this sounds like ever poker player who is serious about their game, could benifit from meditation. Thanks guys!

All individually. But meditating to your favorite music seems to me impossible. Although you can open a new technique:).

before the game

I personally like to train in the gym. Let it not really meditate, but in this way I perfectly and completely get rid of all negative thoughts. Three times a week I go to the gym and after that I love to play poker for a long time. It calms me very well , concentrates, gives the necessary positive charge to the game. And during these lessons in the gym, I completely withdraw into myself — my body works on my mind and consciousness. During the training, I gather with my thoughts, immerse myself in my thoughts before the upcoming game. focus vayus at this time and I am in the very peaceful and calm and reasonable condition before long hours of play.:ciao::ciao::ciao:

To each his own. I used to spend a lot of time in the gym, now I am only doing the horizontal bar and every two days jogging in the morning.

great info

Congratulations on this thread, great information!!

In life, not only in poker, controlling the mind and the ego is the way to achieve eternal happiness and the best channel to get there is through meditation in any way you do it or achieve that calm place. When you meditate you connect with your soul/spirituality and you can reach your highest potential being able to make better choices in every day decisions.
