Marketing code vs bonus code???

My brother is depositing at PS and we want to know what the deal is between the marketing code vs the bonus code. I never actually deposited with any bonus evar, so I don't know what I'm doing here.

So when he signed up, he used the 'CARDSCHAT' marketing code, but now when we're trying to deposit, we are being asked for a bonus code. What's the difference, what's the actual bonus code, and what type of bonus are we looking at?

Marketing Code = CardsChat just got 1 member that they "recruited"

Bonus Code = You deposit $50, lets just say, now you have a $50 bonus offer. This means you need to get 500 fpp (100 fpp per $10) and if you can clear within X amount of time, you get $50 free.

So the CC bonus code is 'CARDSCHAT' too I assume?

From what i understand, the distinction is between the signing up to the site. So you sign up to pokerstars and use the marketing code cardschat and are therefore tracked to cardschat during your signup. Then when you deposit you don't use "cardschat" as a bonus code but instead you use the "first2008" or whatever Stars is using now, but since you were originally tracked to cardschat you get the extra bonus.

The stars bonus is so bad tho...i believe it is 100% match to a maximum of $50. At a 50$ deposit it takes forever to clear given the stakes you are able to play with such a BR. I've made ~500$ since i signed up a little over 2 weeks ago at stars and i am barely over half way to clearing my bonus. I don't even care about the bonus now it is so small :S
