Selbst and Liebert Top Women’s All-Time Money List

The Poker Boom brought both an explosion in the popularity of poker and the integration of women into the game. The few female pros that frequented the circuit prior to the Boom became superstars after and helped usher in a new era for the game.

There are presently 27 women with lifetime tournament earnings exceeding $1 million. The top 10 of the Women’s All-Time Money list is a solid mix of old school female pros and modern day superstars that have reaped the benefits of the monster prize pools of the modern era.

Leading all women is Vanessa Selbst. In just over a decade, she has risen to the top spot with over $11.64 million in earnings. Kathy Liebert was the women’s former #1 player, currently with over $5.98 million in lifetime earnings. Liebert and Selbst are the only females in history to earn over $5 million.

Other women on the all-time money list include future Poker Hall of Famer Jennifer Harman and inaugural WSOP-E Main Event Champion Annette Obrestad.

Below are the top 10 spots on the Women’s All-Time Money List:

Ivey finished 2015 at online poker’s biggest loser, dropping him to #3 all-time with $10.27 million earned.

I think the lists is self explanatory. Men are currently the best poker players in the world & the reason for this, I think, is that Poker is about aggression, & men have a built in aggression factor that stems from the days when we were still wearing furs & living in caves. To hunt for food back then and provide for your family, you had to have a certain amount of built-in aggression. Have you ever killed an animal for food or hunted. Not for the faint of heart, you need a certain level of aggression to take an animals life. Woman didn't need this kind of aggression to rear children, gather berries and so forth. I can't see the ratio changing anytime soon, but hey... Good luck Girls.

So there is my take on the whole who's better @ poker... Men or Woman.

Hope you enjoyed it & see you @ the final table

nestabear nice chart, good opinion and defended well.

Agreed with the science and facts, but there are small numbers that are better than the men. You said things about the character and aggression, that women could have naturally.
Every human is different and unique by itself, that means that he/she could contain big number of character traits and alot of factors that build the human being.
Theoretically, men are better but not always, there always will be examples for it.

and not the sex of the player who says who plays better , however, women are better able to hide in the best hands than men, men get angry easier , say more harsh words for dealers, women are more concentrated !

I think in general women and men are on equal footing when it comes to potential for success in poker. I think to see equal results in any top ten list you would have to have an equal number of women playing for an equal number of years as men and that is not the case.

Definitelly women, why? Other than intuition, that is a females trademark, they are better in decoding nonverbal signs which is supported with various psychological researches. So guys, i'm sorry but we have to admit that :)

Whenever I've seen a man weasel their way into a woman's tournament they usually get beat soundly, but admittedly we're not sending our best men to these type of games.

most of people look at statistic and say that man is better but did even calculated a different between man and woman numbers. personal i think no matter of sex there is a lot good players in a man and a woman kind.

IMO it makes no difference! Because of that I don't understand why there is a ladies event at WSOP. women have the same requirements.

Female players are only 5% of all poker players, it is obvious that the chances of a man being on that list that guy posted is extraordinarily higher. I do hope that more and more women join poker. Saying that one or other is better is just not smart, there is no proof. The best us men can do is to stop make dumb assumptions and welcome women to the poker world.

no gender, no the nationality ,good players depends on the strategy they followed .The percentage of women who play poker is less an analysis of this kind does not help in something quite the opposite

Women are just as capable as men at being a successful poker player. I could care less if my opponents are men or women. Their money is just as green in my pocket at the end of the day.

I think that women are more patient and disciplined. If poker is played the same number of both sexes that women would be in the front.
