It's is still possible to make a living from online poker ?
I know that if i invest enough time i can be good, not decent, but good.. But it's that enough in today field? There is so many diferent opinions about this, that drives me crazy, i don't have solid understanding if it's is possible, and will be possible after years. Some people say that online poker is even dead now, it's very hard to make profit.
I know that i can be good with time invested right, but question is if that is enough these days? Maybe luck factor is too high in these tournaments to make profit ? Any hope ?

As the story goes, just 10-15% of poker players are wining due to rake.
Playing for 8 years online I am not among them. But I never came to understand poker too eagerly.

When I started to play was really hoping to earn playing . But time passed and I realized that the game does not bring money to life . Yes, sometimes you win but most you lose . Of course I'm not a Pro . So try , but don't count on the game .

It is almost impossible for an average player to make a living in the game now. You will need to be a very good player at mid/high stakes to get ahead of the rake and show some profit. Until their is legalized online poker in the US and other countries quit pulling their player pools out of the global market it will get tougher and tougher to make it. Still doesn't mean it isn't worth a try just make sure that you have a life roll to support your attempt to make it.

the whole trick here is that you can fly on the 1st hand your entire bank :) and only you decide to play here or not, try to raise the money or not, it is difficult but possible, I would say, if the card is not (by the way of success ) no one forces you to do Ollin, play in the cache, and the like where you can leave at any time

Depends where you live and what your expenses are. But the games are definitely more difficult than they were 7-8 years ago. Still beatable, but it just depends on what your financial goals are.

I would agree with the one poster who stated that it depends on where you live and what your living expenses are. I also think it's possible if you have the right amount of bankroll and you're very selective as to which games you play and when. I actually think it's harder to build a bankroll when you're grinding at the microstakes level due to rank in some instances, and in others, the amount of players who are calling with anything, not to mention the bots.

Hi Jimm2 and welcome to Cardschat. We all see this question come up all the time here. And there are many more who have thought about making a living playing poker, but, like me, they have come to realize that making a living from poker, is not a easy goal. But it is possible, if you are a good player, and if you have the money to play at a level you can bring in a few hundred a day. GL to you and I'm off to try and win $30 or $40 today.

sure I think a good player all day can play for a living but you must be willing to play more to do that. Is many factors to determine are you a ring player or a tourney player? You have to figure out rake for one and your bankroll level and the other tournament players like me you flat out have to play enough games to overcome the variance of tournament play. Yet if you just play say acr and you play one 10k tournament a day if you could afford that and you are a very good player I would say yes you can keep moving up the ladder slowly and be successful. I will be doing that exact thing soon. We will see how it goes.

Perhaps most people we met dela in Carschat yearn to live poker, for me that's my goal but it's not easy at is a long road to be traveled. If you are a good player does not mean you also have success because in this game the variance has a very important role.
Well set your goals if you want to live like this do not be discouraged studying a good strategy put it into practice and try the choice is yours. The obstacles you are up to you.

EsnneyPk that's some great advice You said a lot in a few words. I wish I could do that. Most of the time, I have to write a book to get my point across. There is so much going on in my head when I'm talking about poker, so I change directions sometimes and talk to much.off subject. Thanks GL to you

The most significant advantages in online poker are speed and availability. Online poker is faster than live poker and there are always tables available in various forms and values. Elemnto Another highlight is the ability to play multiple tables for more hands played per hour and hopefully a higher gain. In addition, the range of variants of poker games are much more numerous, .many online players are very enjoyable to play live poker occasionally because of the social factor and heightened emotion. It is common for online players who are strong but inexperienced in live poker get nervous when playing in a casino.

I think it depends on what standard of living you plan to take, what are your current financial conditions, involves much and is difficult to answer.

But for all I see around, I advise you to study and have a profession and use poker as a second income. If you start having solid and consistent results in poker, then yes you might think about playing professionally. After a while if not more profitable you can return to your profession.

It is not to be pessimistic, is to be realistic. I find it very risky and dangerous, repeat, unless you are from a rich family and has no financial obligations ...

It all depends on your current standard of living, to focus on academics, by building a bankroll, so can live poker, and never esqueer of poker variances today vc wins, not tomorrow ....
