Are you a skillful Poker player or do you depend on luck. We all like to thing we are skillful but lets face it going all in with pocket 3'S and hitting the set to beat Ace's is luck. Personally I think my skill factor is 6.5. And I do know what to work on so that helps, my luck factor is 1.5 maybe. I am the guy that gets beat everytime with pocket AA, KK QQ by the guy with 22's or 33's. That is only in online play, in cash games I do fairly well, (I am in the positive). Some might say that online is fixed for some people but that is a different post hahahaha.

I think poker is more about luck than skill. You need the luck to get some good or excellent hand, but you need also some skills to manage your hand and get some extra chips from others. It is a little bit of both. If you are not skilled, you still can win with luck. But even though you are skilled, if you are an unlucky man, you can't win.

That is me in a nut shell, I have never been lucky at anything. In poker I have to maximise my winnings when I hit the nuts just to stay in a game. 99% of the time I get worst cards imaginable until my stack is all used up.

arbitrary number I gave myself. I am a good poker player but not good enough to make money consistently. And I know my short comings.

You are 8 to 1 to get a set with a pocket pair. If you are not winning with high pockets you should verify why that is. Every hand online is recorded (great thing about online vs live) and with some free programs can be run them through a query.

There is a element of luck but odds normally play out. In your case it is a flip or 6.5 to 1.5 chance. Not by luck how the skill players find the prize pool consistently.

most seem to use:
- if I win its skill
- if I lose its bad luck
So far its more luck than skill for me, but skill I think I can improve.

In my opinion (and mostly backed by online database stats) it's more skill than luck, by a lot. The tough part to get a handle on is sample size. Most people say you need at least 1000 hours of live play or 100k online hands to even start to data mine. With that in mind unless you're a pro who logs tons of hours / hands, short term ups and downs can be hard to see for what they are. I'm sure you don't "always" loose with QQ+. Like most of us you just focus on the big losses more than the wins because you "expect" to win with AA but really you don't have 100% equity with any hand pre flop. As others have said, if you're online then grab some free software and look at your actual stats with QQ and KK and AA and you may be able to figure out what's going on. Good luck.

Poker is a hobby for me, but in any case, I always count on my skills and experience. To count only on luck, it is not very reasonable in my opinion.

Good luck - it is good and pleasant. But luck can come or may not come. The experience and professionalism do not go anywhere. I hope to become a good player relying on luck - it's not a very good idea.

Hi.
I hope that I am a skilful player, but in any case very often everything solves luck. Although, no doubt, both skills and luck are two essential factors for a successful game. The third factor for a successful game is patience.
Good luck.

Hi
There is a debate always on this subject.
It’s a never ending to n fro , on luck or skill.

The point is how good a player you are defines your luck vs skill ratio.

You lose your AA to a 33 is not bad luck in poker it’s a bad beat, and in casinos you get a bonus for bad beats.

Why pros end up cashing more often is not for the luck but a lot of skill.

Of course they get knocked out of tournament early sometimes but not because of bad luck.

So the bottom line is there is only skill and bad beats😂😂😂

Poker is a skills game and the management of your luck is part of the skills. This means that even if you get low cards you can win sometimes monster cards with the right moves! There is always the "factor of software"!!:D:mad::cool::)

Poker is a skill game where luck is also part of the game in the short term, but in the long run the luck factor cancels out and only the good players are the winners.

It seems to me that online poker, when you register an account for yourself, or it will be good, where you will win any entries, or maybe bad, where you will constantly lose with good cards and you will not be able to do anything for a long time.
Here everything is random and no one knows which account he will get during registration, either happy or not happy, and this in turn is luck, how will you win the exhibits, and then the skill is important.
Since you can play better than others, but constantly losing exposure and you can not do anything with it, and your opponents can play much worse than you, but they can win more than you. I think this is not fair.
You may notice that in different poker rooms the situation is different in some poker rooms everything is going well, but in others there isn’t. I think that you need to play where it turns out to win the nomination.

I heard Kevin Martin say it in stream. "In the short term poker is all about luck but in the long term it's all about skill."

I like to combine luck with skill. I do not have a constant playing style. I diversify my style of play according to opponents at the game table, so I have ups and downs and otherwise gain strong sensations. It is the game that makes me happy with such inclinations.

And yet I think that only skill helps me win poker. What are you guided by in determining your experience for scoring, because everything is so conditional. The more you play, the more you gain experience, but, of course, you need a theoretical basis.
I do not know how my experience is with glasses, but I feel that I can play plus up to medium limits.)))

Assuming poker operator is not rigged or catering to recreationals, - it should be a combination of both. Long term skill counts more but you need an element of luck to push you a bit higher in MTTs... or so I think.

Getting a good hand is okay, you need luck here, but the fact that poker is more luck than skill doesn’t agree. Disagree with the fact that if you are no qualified then you will win with luck. In a long-term perspective, an unqualified player cannot win. It’s also inappropriate to talk about an experienced loser player with a failure. An experienced player has very few failures. So he will not lose.

Sometime the poker gods favor the idoits who go all in with
nothing but junk, but that is the luck factor of the game.
