Are you tired of working just to get by? Do you think you could play poker for a living? Well you can if you believe in yourself and take the concept Failure is not an option. I'm 29 years old with two children a beautiful girlfriend and a 40 hour job. And I'm telling you I'm tired of barely getting by and I taking big steps to get my life to where I want to be. So I want to form a Poker Brain Trust with 5 to 10 Members who meets at least once a week. During this meeting everybody can talk about their goals, their plan to reach their goals, give advice to each other, support each other, talk strategy, encourage each other, talk about our progress, keep each other accountable, talk about hands and see how other people would have played the hand, give positive influence to each other, and be their for each other through the highs and lows that come with success...
I'm very serious about this I'm treating this like a job. It's like all the higher ups meet to see what they can do to improve the company, but in this case we're the higher up and our company is poker. I want determined, passionate, persistent, creative, have no fear, positive, hard working, strong desire, very serious about achieving their goals, and people with amazing drive to succeed...
If this is you pm me private
or post I have what it takes and I want success
Thank you Adam L Shockley

There are already threads that do what you're wanting to do:
https://www.cardschat.com/forum/cash-games-11/yo-its-august-stuff-were-awesome-228014/

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/cash-games-11/microcrushers-thread-216047/

There used to be a monthly one for MTTs/SnGs as well, but looks like they've lost the numbers for them. But if you look at the two above, each month you will see almost entirely what you've asked for. Look back further for the monthly cash game threads and you will see it is pretty consistent.

Also, no need to bump a thread that is 7 hours old and was posted in the middle of the night.

I'm all that stuff. I'm also 29 with 2 kids :) but after stars stopped allowing US players I kind of gave up, now I'm trying to get a bankroll back playing micro tourneys and freerolls. I dig what your'e saying though about treating it like a job, that's key imo. When I played for a living, I woke up, showered, dressed, and locked myself in my room for 12 hours a day, no interruptions except a lunch break. That's how it's done. And even though I was only making 10 bucks an hour on an average day, I felt good about myself, I felt like a business owner.

Believing you are "blessed" will get you nowhere in poker. Just sayin...

I do like your attitude and post though. Good luck with your goals. :)

great motivation, have fun don't give up when you have a bad day week or month or year. Cause it is bound to happen but there are good days, and how you deal with the bad days will make a difference. Goodluck

Do you have a larger bankroll online? What sites you play on? And are you better with mtt's or cash games?

Golden Idea

You have a golden Idea Adam and I am very interested in being part of your group. I am in a similar situation as you I am 26, 3 kids, 40hr job, wife and I am very serious about gaining my financial freedom through poker. I have been playing for about 2 years now but only been taking it seriously for about 6 or 7 months. I have been studying (poker books, web, articles) and playing online during this duration but I know that I need to start talking with others that are serious also to better my game. Since I don't have 15 posts yet it wont let me private message you but I would like to join the group. email or message me whenever you can so we can discuss details. Thanx

Just a reminder to members, please do not give out any personal information to anyone online, do not give anyone access to your poker accounts, email, skype or give out information like your mothers maiden name, first pet or any answer to a security question.

OP can you outline exactly what you are proposing and why it cannot be done in this thread ?

i have heard stories of people who make money online and did so myself before black friday, i know hundreds of poker players and 4 who made money online that i could verify. many more of coarse who said they did, but if you are a serious poker player i would strongly suggest getting in the car and grind it out live where you can watch your opponents , listen to em and talk to em and get good at making them do what you want em to. there is a game inside the game and if you learn it your chances of doing it for a living will increase. that said you have to realize that once it becomes your job it is just that a job and alot of the fun disappears all the same good luck to you

It is going to be a grind no matter how much you enjoy playing poker. I know guys that loved to fish and became marsh guides and now they are slaves to it to survive.

You have to weigh in the benefits you won't have or will need to provide for yourself as well if you are getting any now that is.

Oh and the other thing about this job versus going to work someplace is that I have never gone to work and lost money doing it with a regular job you should expect that to happen more than you might care for it to.

Good luck anything is possible with the right mindset, management and execution with the hint of luck tossed in.

Why is this still being discussed? The guy hasn't been back in the thread since August 14th or even posted at all on CC since the 15th. He was logged in yesterday though, I feel like something fishy is going on.

nice concept but hard to get dedicated people involved. Commitment takes time and patience and some of us have neither.

I want to predict that u get a couple yahoos who say they are in and your A-team falls apart. Dude grind your freerolls start a bankroll and don't blow it. That's how u do it. U don't need a support group just make the money.

I like your ambition to get good at this game. I believe anybody can be really successful, you just have to be willing to give up some sacrifices. Sacrifices would be all the time it takes to achieve this level. Good luck.

I've played full time as a pro for my sole income since 2008. It's a soul sucking endeavor, but the amount of family time you have is worth it.

Make sure you religiously go to the gym, and watch what you eat. It's very easy to let that stuff lack, and before you know it, you haven't showered or left the house in 3 days.....
