Especially any of us that *may* *sometimes* come online to vent about "outcomes" let's call it... If we actually carried that over into our personal lives and every other "story" we had was about how we got robbed... Who in the world would actually put up with that on a regular basis?

Without getting too personal, I've been in relationships where I basically kept ALL info (good or bad) to myself. I've also been with a fellow poker player where we talked constantly about poker in the beginning and then not at all.

Granted, we're not as sufferable a lot as regular, degenerate gamblers who can't seem to figure out that the game they're playing is designed to take all of their money over the long term.

But we'd be pretty bad if our "online" or "community" selves were anything like our everyday selves. 99% of what I do now I keep to myself which might be hard to believe with how much I post on here. But it is true.

Anybody else feel bad for the "others" in our lives?

I mean, those were just my examples that were top of mind, but male/female fellow poker player or not, don't you guys think that we ask a lot from the people in our lives?

Relationships are hard enough to sustain as it is, but how many, even successful players have been able to keep it together for the long haul. First in my mind would be Hellmuth, but maybe that's a bar too high as ANY psychiatrist would love to get that unique brain sitting on their couch! lol ;)

(Although people who seem to "really know him" say he's actually a really nice guy away from the felt.)

To add to this, I think it can be "an adjustment" for any partner where their partner is working or "working" in an area of uncertain income. This would also apply to anyone working off of commission including Inside Sales Reps, Pharmaceutical Reps and Real Estate Agents, all of which whom can do quite well.

Nah. As long as you or someone else is up front about how much Poker means to them and how often they'll play, it's a decision they're deciding is worth trying. Only feel bad if they trust the person a lot and they donk the money away.
