anyone that play these, do you find the payouts fair? last weekend, i bought into a 100 tourney and 55 ppl registered at the start..i don't recall how many made the late registration but i made the final table and busted out 8th place and they only paid 5 places which they all decided to chop.
IMO this was total bull. there was enough in the prize pool to pay out 10 places with 10th getting twice the buy in. The tourneys at the Harrahs owned casinos near me do the same. I'm beginning to think these are not worth my time and instead opt to just play the cash games. How do payouts fair at other casinos?

different places do payouts differently but in generally usually top 10% gets paid so 55 people would be 5 places.

15% would be something more just at the time of the distribution of awards

Typically it's going to be top 10% + 1 So if 60 entrants would pay 7 but alot of casinos do the top 10% and round down. What really sucks is if they pay top 15% but make it top heavy so top 2-3 spots get like 80% of the money.

Agreed with the other replies. Usually it's 10% and I mostly see it rounded up. So at 55 players, my guess would be 6 get paid. Once they hit 6, it's their money, and they can do what they want with it. If they decide to chop, sucks for you, but that's poker.

Wait until you bust in a bigger event in 11th for $2,700 and they chop shortly after for about ~$10k+ each, that's good times :)

That's too bad you busted 8th when only 5 got paid and they chopped. I personally think paying only 5 players with at least 55 playing is a bit

harsh. But I would imagine you could of asked the TD how many players would be getting paid based on the number of entrants. Every live

tournament I have played in (usually after the first hour) they will display the payouts. So I'm sure you knew at some point that it would only be

paying 5 places. In the future I would ask some of the players in the poker room how things work at that casino/ cardroom, and maybe save some

heartache. Overall I think most places fair just fine in terms of their payout structures, at least the places where I play.

When you enter a tournament without knowing what kind of payout table was being used, that's on you. You could have asked, and if it wasn't to your liking or they wouldn't tell you, you could have declined to play.

If you had cashed or even won, would you be thinking that you'd like to give some to the people who finished 6-10?

That seems pretty normal. I would also like to point out that you don't have to be down to the places that get paid to chop. You can chop at any point if all the players agree.
