I dont think $1-$5 out of the $200 - $600 pot is going to break you guys. I ended up tipping the dealer last week for this guy that kept not tipping dealer. He would win a hand and I would throw dealer a dollar and say its from him. I was kinda wishing he would catch on and after a hour or so he did. Here's my take on this...yes the dealers generally do a good job and should be tipped. However, I look at it like a waiter or waitress in a restaurant.
Some dealers are better and/or friendlier than others, and some dealers really are bad. They misdeal, they don't know the game they are dealing (Omaha H/L, Stud).
So before the dealer leaves the table, I tip them based on their performance. They'll always get some sort of tip (unless they were super bad), and if they were really good, I give them a nice parting gift.
