I feel live is far better, just feeling the felt under your fingers is comforting. I tend to pay a lot more attention to my opponents too. Nothing more satisfying then holding the nuts and watching the confusion on a opponent s face!

I think that in addition to the lowest stake being higher live, more people playing for entertainment, and interpersonal dynamics already stated, the number of hands played is a big factor as well.
Live you get 30h/hour (if you have an efficient dealer) online it is closer to 100 per table (more if zone/zoom/rush/snap/ect.). If I can grind out 300-1000 hands an hour online I am getting 10 to 30 times the experience. This tends to crush some logical fallacies that are prevalent among live players. How many times have you heard someone live say they have a "lucky hand". They probably randomly got lucky with it twice in a small sample and haven't had a chance to play enough hands for that to even out. An online player playing 10k hands a month (high for recreational, low for regs) sees that even out over time a lot faster.

I strongly feel live poker is easier to beat despite the higher rake and tipping dealer. When I play live cash game it's 1/2NL and the competition is that of .01/.02NL online. I feel that if you can beat 10NL online you'll crush 1/2NL.

As a nyc resident i'm limited to ACR so the softness/competition might be different at other poker sites. I'm pretty sure the fact my only deposit option is to use bitcoin plays a huge role. Only the serious players will deposit onto this site so the competition will be stiffer.

I used to crush 1/2NL back when the online sites were full of rec players... now i'm clearly the fish playing online.

For me to play live is easier than playing online because there we have the possibility to see our opponents face to face and try to decipher their reactions their gestures .. to me personally and more and more I like to play live already Which luckily I have the possibility to play live Friday with a local league

OP, as with everything, it depends. What stakes would you play live and what stakes would you play online? Is online 50NLHE tougher than 200 or 300NLHE, yes. Is 50NLHE tougher than 1000NLHE, no.

I believe Live is easier for several reasons:

1) A lot of players use HUD online where after a significant sample it would put you at a disadvantage if you are not taking advantage of one.

2) You cannot tell if you are playing a real person or a bot. There are a lot of bots out there that play a tight balanced style. It is not fun playing against them.

3) Playing online usually requires someone to spend the time to deposit money and set up an account. It's even more cumbersome for Americans due to the whole banking issue. Where as a lot of your recreational players stumble there way to the poker table to gamble for a bit. A lot harder to stumble your way online IMO.

4) A lot of micro stake grinders that try to survive off small amounts of money.

The list goes on and on. I would prefer Live > Online anyday, but my location is not the best for live poker.

IMO live poker players tend to be a bit less skilled as they are online. Live players seem to be able to fold much more than online players. It seems every online player makes the hero call or draw without much thought.

It seems I do better playing live action. I can't say this is due to purity of randomness because those bad beats happen live too. I think those beats occur more often online because the field is usually far wider and thusly online one may be grouped at a table risk takers and jackasses. I don't think I've ever felt like I was 'in the zone' live but it's been an online experience for me. Sadly when I was too tired to play to it's apparent end and she wanted me to lay down with her. Poker ain't everything even when you're in the zone.

I would not say easier, but where you can put your strategies and get loose in the game.

I think you're right. People can see it when you're bluffing for example. But sometimes I think live poker is more honest then the nog reallife ones....

Live poker is not easier, but it's more interesting, but also more dangerous.
There are a lot of cheaters in live offline poker.

Live is better, I think. You can read a lot in your opponents. Online has more donks and you can not read hardly at all.

I believe that for the same Buyin the answer is yes.
Usually players spend more money playing a Live Tournament than in a Online Tournament, at least here in my region.

I think that live game is maybe easier than online poker .
Because you play only with real player that you can see and maybe you know.
Even more if you play for example at casinos on your town you will play always with almost the same player.

anytime I played live - it was slow, and hard to keep track of who's turn it was
definitely online is easier - and people get folded when they take to long
I prefer online anytime then live

I prefer live because of the interaction you get and the feel of scooping up chips from a big pot win. :)

I prefer live poker. I play in a casino tournament every now and then and you can play with real strategy. Online just isn't the same, digital money just doesn't have the same impact as physical money, and some players will shove with any hand

Live is real poker online is a rigged scam.
I've never withdrawn online One time in over 10 years.
I win 8 out of 10 times at least in real poker and played in the World Series. I'll never support online poker.
