Dreaming

Isnt that the dream. Thanks for your opinion but i work hard to take care of my family i take pride in that. I take time to study and practice my craft i take pride in that. My kids are asleep when i leave and they are asleep when i get i home i miss them.i want to live this dream and i will thru study practice and aplication. This isnt just a dream powerball is a dream to be succesful in poker isnt a dream uts something you work for calculate and putting yourself in position to be succefull for the long terms being able to handle swings bad beats long boring hours days and times. But gives you freedom if i am lazy id like to meet the hard working non dreamers in your crowd but im assuming they wont be at the tables because thats were the dreamers go to dream and people like that have better things to do no time sit and be lazy

I think people will say you need at least 6 months of living expenses saved up and have a solid bankroll. The general consensus for live casino poker is around 15-20 buy ins (although many of us start our live rolls at 1/2 with less). But since you want to try to make a living off it, I'm guessing most people will say you'll want double that if not more in your roll

Poker is a cruel game and you've got to consider not only your own sanity and expenses but also that you have a family. That said, I don't think there's anything wrong with grinding while working a job to build your roll and take shots sometimes with the safety of your job to fall back on. Nothing wrong with taking shots at a dream. But you've got a family, got kids, sounds like they depend on you. So stick to your job even if it sucks while working on your dream. Save money as much as you can, build your roll up as you get better at the game. It's going to be a lot less stressful on you to grind and play if you know your ability to put food on the table isn't dependent on how the cards fall.

So stick with the grinding but stick with the job too. Maybe if you do better and have a deep roll over time you can consider what some do and keep at least a part time job with some benefits while playing more to balance the risk.

Chase the dream but be smart about it. Don't risk loss of ability to provide for your kids to play cards. And while I don't have kids, I think it's fair to say, don't let the time at the tables cause you to miss the milestones and miss the time you'll never get back with them if you're not there with them.

It's all about risk management and balancing your life.

Nothing wrong with chasing a dream. I'd rather fail than wake up one day and realize I never tried. As for lazy...the man says he works long hours to provide for his family and he still has the drive and motivation to at least take a shot at his dreams. And ask those grinding at the tables for the living if they think it's a job for a lazy person? :D

Risk management

You dont drive a car without insurance rite? I have a family life and bills. I am in this process now i have calculated 6 months of expenses plus a cusion. I have opened a sepereate bank account for this. I am on my way there i keep tedious records and logs hours played travel time food wins losses etc. I am a solid player i do make money. Patience and agression is the key to my success but im no were near my goal at this point. When i go back and check my logs i am making phenomenal hourly compared to the clock im going to punch come april.i want to fast track my insurance savings i am thinking of entering into a few gauranteed tournies for relativly small buy ins to reach my goal if i dont cash i will stick to the grind thats were i feel safe were i can take my winnings and protect them by cashing out when im up and rebuying with origanal by in.this isnt a dream its a way of life and culture that isnt for everyone but i feel its for me and this is the path i am on. Protecting what i earned and building upon it is all life is for me from family to cards to my miserable job i wake up every morning at 3 am for and do with pride

I think that in online poker do not earn a lot in order to earn, in life, you need to play live poker, my personal opinion is that online poker there are restrictions on winnings, then simply the system will not allow you to win more, as in any casino
