Pretty cruel.

Maybe this guy got burned by AK recently??

When I take beats with AK, I start to question what the right way to play it is.

IMO, ya gotta raise with it preflop and if you don't hit, don't overcommit to it.

Hard luck m8.

The same person who limps with aces, kings or queens. Yes it is a dangerous strategy to limp with strong hands because you let the limpers in when you do this. The strategy of limping with strong hands especially in early position is the hope of someone raising in later postion so you can either call or re-raise.

I like to limp with AK when I have a very aggressive player at my table, because if I hit chances are he/she might try to bluff at the flop when an A or K hits the board. Then I go over the top to try to either get them commited or take the pot right there. And besides the situation you were in is a great example of the benefits limping with AK, because the other guy didn't raise you couldn't put him on a better 2 pair,

The question is who says you have to raise with AK? You can play any 2 cards anyway you want. My thought would be he was limping to trap waiting for someone to raise so he could go top. This is a good tactic late in tournaments and one many players use. I think you are sore cause you busted out. He had the better hand pre-flop and post-river so I am not sure what the problem is.

Lately, ace king has been the kiss of death for me. No matter what the other guy has he hits and I don't. I don't know the last time I won a hand when I started with ace king.

So it was good player that chipleader. You have to able to change your style of play. And of course, slow play is one of the important things.

no matter what you do you were screwed....luck was not on your side...if u had gone all in after the flop he would have surely called, and then hit the K....either way you were done for.....just bad luck...we've all gotten hit by it....

I lose with AK all the time. I bubbled a live tournament against a big stack who was raising every hand. So i moved all in with Ak and got called with ace-ten. Ten came on the river, and i was out. They ended up chopping for about 500 a piece.

Slow play and trapping is hard to detect at times.

One question:
Did he slow play or trap before that hand.
Like a dog if they do it once they will no doubt do it again.

:D :D :D

Good Luck

Slow play is aimed more after the flop not to much before the flop, like I previously said if you limp with monster starting hands in early position you are likely giving other players the chance to play the rags you would normally get out with a pre flop raise. Even if you limp in later position the limpers ahead of you also have the chance to bust you. I don't know about you but I dont want some donk busting me because he limped with ace rag or king rag. Rather have some schmoe call my pre flop raise with a pocket pair and hit a set then to have those rags hit trips and/or even 2 pair.

The more people you allow in a hand the more likely your monster starting hand will be worthless.

I have started to fold AK more frequently when I get re-raised after betting 4xBB, and also when I see large bets before me in early position, I fold too. I play too scared to play them slow; having maybe one pair is not what I like, but maybe that should change. If I decide to play it in late position with just calls in front of me, I sometimes overbet (is that bad?)

In early position I Bet 4xBB; AK is such a mind boggling hand, and it being suited makes it pretty (though odds don't increase much).

To rafeeki I totally agree with you went over that in my head over and over he woulda called no matter what bet I made but still I would have folded if he didnt limp in. Funny you really do remember what hands you lost but never the hands you have won.

AK is good, maybe you want them to think you have 9 8 or something?
There are many ways to play the "Big Slick" ( Slick! )

Its not bad to limp.. but i would bet if i hit on the flop or if i was h/u with someone.

Exactly. Funny someone should complain about another player not giving away the strength of his hand preflop.

Limping with AK is a great play to get others in the pot with a lesser hand, or a short stack push with Ax. When I have a big lead in chips, I try a get more callers on my big hands. If you raise with AK everytime, you don't make any money. X

i dont liek to bet preflop with AK because if you dont catch anything on the flop your just betting with highcard, i liek to slow play it so they try to bluff me as if they have the ace

Some people simply limps A K because if the flop do not help them they'll be in great trouble.
Or simply because him hoped someone would have raised...who know!

Hi.

There're guys who don't trust too much on AK.
I never rise with AK when i see tight players going in.
Of course they are high ranked cards, but just that.
Anyway, you have bad luck.

Bye.
