I guess for those of you that play poker as i have, and for so many years have all been guilty of neglecting our diet, workout habits, family, and friends to some degree. I have played poker for many years now, and if there is any advice i can give you it would be this....Always find time in your schedule for family and friends, for these are the most important things in life as well as your health. Never deviate from your diet or exercise routines, once you do it is harder to get back in the groove of things. A healthy diet and exercise are essential in your poker career. Always find time to spend away from a poker table, don't let the life consume you. Contrary to some poker players beliefs, there is a life beyond poker. I cannot count the times i have left a poker room, slept, come back, and the same people were sitting in the same seat with the same clothes on and hadn't moved from the chair. Always remember to make time for your family and yourself. Not only will this make you a better poker player, it will make your life happier in general.

Very good advice. While I am not a "serious grinder" I play for entertainment in my spare time, I have found myself making excuses here and there to skip an event with friends some weekends because there are games I want to play in, lol.
My New Years Resolution will be to get back to being more social, which I will drop two weeks in like we do with all New Year's Resolutions :)

I just played at Harrahs on the 21st and had a great outing...i went hammered after the pool closed and grinded it out for 6 hours and still managed to make $700...does that sound soft enough for you? I say give that a go. Im newly 21 though so I havent really explored outside the borgata, where my fake always worked.

depends what poker variants you play.

if your a sit and go player then its easily doable.

if your working full time and playing poker then you just have to find the right moments or not play that often unless your a high stakes winner poker isnt worth risking these things for.
