This happens a lot. A player gets way ahead in chip count and leaves the table, back he comes when the other players start to catch him. I find this very rude. Give us a chance to win our money back.:mad::mad:

Step #1-Start your own poker site
Step# 2-Make up your own rules
Step#3- Until you can do steps 1& 2, deal with it. You don't get to play other peoples hands.

It's smart poker to leave when your ahead. You can only play your hand. You can't control what others are going to do. You want to try and get your money back from the rest of the table.

I don't necessarily think it's rude, since everyone is allowed to play their own style/strategy. I don't like playing tables where lots of people are inactive, though, because it drastically changes the game. Not only are you playing short-handed, you're also having to play carefully, as the inactive players may pop back into the game unexpectedly.

Leaving the game when ahead is a whole lot better than leaving it when you are behind. That's the idea, isn't it? This thing about giving opponents a chance to win their money back doesn't make any kind of poker sense. Does it? Really! The idea is for "you" to "win." If you give your opponents a chance to win their money back, then what makes you think they are going to stop there? It is poker! Don't expect your opponents to give you a chance to win your money back. How are you going to do that when it is gone? Into their stack!? And, not your own! The idea is to win, and to walk away a winner. Right? Or, do you want to walk away as a loser?

Sometimes it makes sense to leave the table to be shure to get into the money, sometimes i have to go running out of time, meal break etc.

It has nothing to do with being rude, it is just poker.

ONLINE. If your at a cash table , plzz leave , dont Sit Out . Nothing more annoying than watching a table slowly die as players start sitting out . LIVE Tournaments. plzz Sit Out , Free chips for the table .

It is good imo to leave when you have profit. of coz if u feel like winning you can still play for more hands. I dont think it is rude to leave table if chipped up, but I do think leaving the table at once after doubling up after a all-in is not that good

I do not pay attention to such trifles. For me it's more important how I play. I always try to be as focused as possible on the game and usually it helps me.

Im sorry to bring the news but this is not charity. This is competetive game in which everyone wants to win as much money as he can. And no one is going to give you a chance to win your money back. Its entirely his decision to play or stop playing. Dont need to be upset about it.

There were a lot of good points made on both sides of the issue. Maybe "rude" was the wrong word for me to use here, it is a strategy play. I should of said annoying. I personally wouldn't sit out, I might miss that powerhouse hand. When you win I hang around to take you down, I want more than your blinds.

HA back in college I had a quota when playing cash games, one buy in was all I was looking for some times it took 4 hours, sometimes it took 30 minutes. The times it took thirty minutes I got right up from the table and didnt think twice.

This is a very important question you’re asking because people get confused between two concepts. One is what is what is normally called “money management” and one is what I would call “bankroll management”.

Bankroll management is very important. Even if you are a great player, you must have enough of a bankroll to sustain the inevitable losing streaks. And I have never been opposed to that. Quite the contrary, I have been very vociferous proponent of keeping a big enough bankroll to be able to play and sustain losses.

The concept that I am always trying to explain to people is the “other” definition of money management. Money management in most people’s minds means quitting simply because of how you are doing that day, or continuing to play simply because of how you are doing that day. In other words, you are in a game and you have lost x number of bets so you quit, only to come back tomorrow. Well, that is a silly concept because it is all one game. If you are a serious poker player, you are playing by the week, by the month, not by the day. And if you for instance are in a very good poker game, you don’t quit simply because of how you are doing. You quit because the game has gotten worse, you quit because you are tired. These are all proper reasons but not because I’m getting bad cards that day, because I’ve lost a certain amount, or because I’ve won a certain amount. This is simply incorrect. This is not just my opinion, this is simply incorrect. If you will play in a game where you have the advantage, the more you play, the more you win. If you play in a game where you have the disadvantage, the more you play the more you will lose.

There’s no way of getting around that. If there was such a thing as getting around having an advantage simply by money management, you could go to the crap table and win by money management. In other words by quitting at the right time. Well, you cannot do that. Money management is a completely spurious idea as far as when you quit or when you don’t quit. The only thing that matters when you are playing is to have the odds are in your favor, when you are the best player, when you figure to win. And when you are in that situation play as long as you can. When you are not in that situation quit at the first opportunity. That’s really all there is to say. Bankroll management as far as having enough money – that’s different. But money management – no.

Do you find this situation rough? Imagine that your opponent is playing a certain strategy, which does not seem to be an understatement that he can play on the doubled stack. You do not think about what is important for your opponent, but only that you need to return your money, you absolutely do not care about all the other factors. Will not this be rude to your opponent? Initially you sit down to play with equal factors of the game and what you lose is just your problem and nothing more. You have a simple option, if your opponent does not eliminate you, then you can always refuse to play with him;)

In every western I can recall seeing when a gambler wins a big pile of cash and the deeds to various mines and oil wells and the pink slip to someone else's horse, there's always someone who menacingly demands that the winner give them all a chance to win their money back (or that our gambler is a "fillintheblank" cheater).
Ever notice the menacer is always a bad guy?

DUSAN. You dont quit after you have lost a certain amount ? . :pcguru: Im not sure you have a complete grip on what bankroll management is all about . It certainly has nothing to do with money management . Having enough money to increase your level of buy in , means you have a successful life reflected by your bank account balance . If you are trying to manage a poker bankroll , i think it means , starting at one level and successfully increasing the amount you can afford to buy in without it crippling your bank roll . Bankroll management has never been part of my game . HAPPY pre black friday FULLTILT player . I dont mind playing out a good run , but i never lose over a set % of my deposits . I think thats called money management and for me its been a long time small ball poker plus . Good Luck with your bankroll .
