I was on ftp and lookin for a game that was about to start and saw the Ferguson in the lobby about to start

I clicked on the Register button and I when I was seated I was freaking out thought there was something wrong with ftp or that I was being punked or something..

There was 4 cards instead of my usual 2 cards and then more cards kept being dealt at me,, needless to say I was so freakin lost

I had no idea then I go back to the lobby and look up the game I am in and its says';s RAZZ .. Im like wtf

I felt so stupid, I was in a game I have never played before and I felt like I just wasted a whole dollar.. do u think FTP will gimme my dollar back? lol

anyhow I played it out but I must have seemed like a moron to all the other players at the table I was playing my pkt aces and kings like a m.. f..

they prolly laughing at me im sure .. o well

just thought i share, i guess the lesson learned here is to always look to see what your registering for...

I think they run a few different ferguson games on there.
If you don't know already from google razz is a stud game.
The lowest hand wins.
The lowest being a2345.
Straights and flushes do not count.
It is mostly played as a limit game,so I am sure the ferguson would take years to finish :p.
You probably already researched all this but just figured I would share.
I have been anxtious for a tournament to start before, only to find it is a stud game or something like that.
As in all tournament play, patience is the vertue.
See you on the flops.

I can laugh, because I've done that before. Sometimes we assume everyone plays holdem and we join without looking. Thats pretty funny.

Lucky you razz is great. Too bad you didn't know what you were doing. Probably my 3rd favorite game. Holdem, omaha8, razz, HORSE.
I know it was a mistake but you should try some new games out to better round out your poker knowledge.

Are you referring to Stud H/L tourneys?? THere are some tourneys that are strictly RAZZ (<< usually the ones that have this >> 'RAZZ' written in the lobby).

Was good to hear that there are others who've accidentally reg. for the wrong game. It's never happened to me (yet) but I've seen my partner enter a few Omaha Super turbo SNG's, without having a clue how to play the game (and yah.. she cashed in over half of them, lol).

I think they run a few different ferguson games on there.

Last time I checked, there is only one Ferguson a day (01:30AM ET - iirc) 7 days a week, and they do alternate games. Always have.

If you don't know already from google, razz is a stud game.

Google is your friend. There are tons of sites that give quick game descriptions and rules.

The lowest hand wins.
The lowest being a2345.
Straights and flushes do not count.
It is mostly played as a limit game,so I am sure the ferguson would take years to finish :p.

Takes about as long as a NLHE game. Just like Holdem or any other game, the stakes go up and with stud type games, there are antes for every player on every hand, right from the start. When stakes go to 500/1,000 and a 100 ante, it moves just as fast as Holdem.

You probably already researched all this but just figured I would share.

for the rest of us morons... whats a ferguson?

Started as a reference to Chris Ferguson and his $0-$10k Challenge, offering a $1 buy-in with no rake.

Yea, its a tournament thats a dollar on full tilt. It has many different types.
If i ever entered a tourney i didnt know how to play, id just sit back and see what hands people are showing down and just play those, lol.

Most sites have concise instructions on how to play any game they offer. Why not read the rules and play the game instead of guessing ??

MTTs that are Razz i think also have high hands to.

Nope. Razz is low only. Hi/lo games (non-razz) normally require the low hand to be 5 cards showing an 8 or less to qualify. In Razz, it is the lowest 5 of 7 cards and winning hands can often have a 9, 10, J or higher in the 5 winning lowest cards.

I have done that before. I sat out a few hands and read the rules. Now I have my filter set to only the tourneys I want to play.

Well thats what i thought, but still i am thinking of the higher hand that beat me.
I might of not have been watching the cards.
But yeah razz is an easy game, quick to pick up...

You are not alone. I have twice accidentally entered tourneys in variants I didn`t know how to play. It encourages you to be a quick study, I find. ;)

I did the same once....I just had to google it right now..couldn't even remember the variant - five card draw (I believe it was) pretty fun....and I ended up reaching the 4th or 5th payout level
