Hi All,

So it's been a while since I've posted on the forum, and I feel bad about that. I really need to post here more often, but I have been reading a lot of what's been on the site. It's definitely been helping my game.

Okay now for my actual question. I'm making my first trip out to LA this week for work. I plan on taking advantage of being out there and hitting up one the poker rooms out there. I was wondering if anybody had any advice for when I'm out there as to which casino to go to, Bicycle, Commerce, another option I'm not aware of?

I am hoping to play $1/$2 NL Hold'em and am most likely going to be available to play either Friday night or Saturday during the day. I would consider myself a decent player (who really doesn't though), but by no means a shark. I plan on playing pretty TAG, but just want to make sure I can try to avoid the sharks and find the fish. Any advice is appreciated.

Of course the Commerce is the King of the crop with its luxurious estate. Some of the top cash games are going on and is full of top players. Constant action is going on and tables of all levels.
I myself like the Bike but if you need to stay in a place nearby might be a little isolated. The Bike offers a lot of nice games and players from awful to great and a friendly staff.
The others in the city of Gardena are more working class like the Normandie and the Hustler. Some bargain tournaments at the Normandie if you like MTT's. The Hustler has some nice bad beats pot but I dont like their parking security. Once you leave the door you are on your own in a badly lit parking lot.
You must try the Hollywood Park Casino. Full of players and lots of great characters. Go in the day though.
THe other casinos are Hawaiian Gardens and Crystal Casino. THey have websites.
Wherever you go always Valet.

Thanks for the response. I'm actually going to be staying in a hotel near the Bicycle and it looks like I'll be playing there in the short time I have. Again, having no knowledge of LA, is that area okay to stay in, meaning relatively safe and easy access to food/highways/etc.? Sorry if it's a stupid question, again just not familiar with the city at all.

If you have a car and not walk around at night with a lot of that poker cash in your pocket you'll be ok. Eat in the casino. The Asian restaurant is good but they close at 10 on week nights. But its 24 hour food while you are playing.

The Bike is good. Not a huge fan of Commerce but it is worth checking out even if you do not play. A very underrated room is the Hawaiian Gardens - lots of actions and lots of limits.

Commerce is my home-away-from-home! Not even close, IMO! The best games in LA!

Stay away from Hollywood Park-- horrible part of town. If you take a wrong turn, kiss your ass goodbye.
