Hi all.

Just a couple of little ditties from some of the guys on line.

SNG, $20. I was in the small blind with 66. Folds around to me and I raise. BB calls. Anyway, we play to the end of the hand - everytime I raised he called. I hit trips on turn. I think the board was J376Q no flush possibilities.

The guy showed AK and said "I know not to overplay AK but the mouse just seemed to take control"

It was such a dry and whitty comment I kept laughing thinking about what he said throughout the whole SNG and my wife must have thought I was mad!!!

The thing that tickled me was I have been in exactly the same position so many times myself I know how he feels!!!

Another one that always sticks with me is a hand I was not involved in. MTT, 2 hours in. One guy goes all in and is called by another guy. The first guy that pushed had a monster, the other guy was betting his tourny life on a gut shot. At the time the two guys were chip leaders.

After the gut shot guy was knocked out one of the other guys said "he took a chance with that one" The guy that won the pot quickly respondes "Taking a chance is jumping out of a plane at 1,000 ft without a chute - that call was sudicide!!!"

You guys got any more???

Start of MTT. Cheap one, players are loose and very agressive. Pre-flop betting, i'm on the button. Two players are all-in when it comes round to me - and my KK's. I call, SB and BB folds, hands are shown.

Player 2 all-in shows 78o and says: "Dont tell my mom i made this call. She will send me straight to bed without dinner". Had me grinning stupidly for some minutes.

I was playing live in Vegas and there was this 80 something year old man that was at my table. He couldn't fold if his blinds were raised. Someone would raise his blind and he would say "I don't even need to look at my cards. I need to rescue those 2 blue friends of mine that are out there."

Playing at Derby Lane Poker Room St. Pete in a 45 SNG 4 left to go 1 off the money. I had QQ. first guy folds preflop, i bet 1,500 next guy folds and the BB the jester calls all-in for like 1,600 and throws over 9-5 offsuit. The table and the rail astonished are saying jeez dude wtf you do that for? He stands up with a straight face says I had Pot odds I'm like huh right then he runs from the table holdin his ass........pot odds indeed still laughin over that one.

Played a SNG with a guy whose name was "Maverick". So a few of the guys at the table start quoting Top Gun classic lines. Those are hilarious in their own right. This went on for the whole tourney, even when the other guys had been eliminated. I was laughing the whole way through.

Maverick comment had me laughing...

Being a fan of old TV programs, I got a laugh out of the Top Gun comments made about a player with the name "Maverick".

Waaay back, there was a program on TV called Maverick, which starred James Garner. In that program, Garner played a gambler, who was a poker player.

Could it be that player, with the name Maverick, was getting the bigger laugh?

I guess it depends upon the age of Maverick?

Good point. I hadn't even considered that but the player named Maverick (Tom Cruises character in the film) verified by saying he loved Top Gun and that it was his favourite movie ever.

Hi everyone, i'm new to cardschat, but thought i would leave a note about my last live tournament i was playing in. I have a habit of listening to "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers during a tournament and it has always be good luck for me. I have had two or three first place finishes and at least five second or third, netting over $5000 overall. This on however, I was short stack at final table, had AK(d) and flopped AKK. I obviously slow played seeing 36(h) then eventually went all in. As i called all in, i realised that my Ipod battery had died. With that the stack leader turned pair of kings! I wont b using good luck charms anymore.
