I want to talk today about patience. Is it difficult for you to keep patience during long tournaments?

Many times i was going really well during big tournaments, but suddenly i lost all my chips in a few hands, because my patience was going elsewhere. Sometimes, i have the feeling that i,m a superman, and i want to win every hand. Even if i have 2-7, i want to win it with the bluff and increase my stack.

This is really a big problem for me. I lost lots of money and chances because of that. I think, somebody must understand me and have the same problem.

So, is it difficult for you to keep patience and how do you work on this problem?

I can relate to your issue. Don't really have an advice. I think it just basically goes down to your preparation to the session that you're about to play. If I've done my job, I usually don't have any problems. If I haven't then at some point you will tilt. Yep, even your desire to win every hand is considered as tilting. Check a book by Jared Tendler "The Mental Game of Poker" if you want to learn more about it and check some advice.

Hello Nano5722

I do get a little impatient if i don't get to play a hand for a while, but I realize when I play marginal hands and hit the flop I usually am behind and it cost me a good amount of chips. When I am patient and wait till I have a quality hand I usually fair much better. I guess you have to have a mind set that you are there for the long haul and there is no fast way to get the finish line, have something to keep you occupied while not in a hand so your not so anxious about playing every hand!!!

Good luck with that

I also get inpatient, what makes it even worse is I deal with anxiety! I have learned to cope with this through music and staying in my lane. Not letting anyone in my world while at the table...At the Main Event in 2015 on Day 3 I went without a winning hand!! Finally we had 3 hands to play and had 99 and doubled up. There will be times in major tournaments that your patience gets low but stick to you and let everything else fall into place!

For me it is not so difficult to be patient, because I am a patient player. Usually you loose patience because of fatigue, or after a bad beat, from those that you were sure 99% for the victory, and this 1% won. The solution is to keep calm and be wise.

Whilst playing longer tournaments, I will always have a small stakes cash table open and flick between the two. That way if I am not playing hands in the tournament due to the way the cards fall, then I can play on the cash table. May be worth giving this a go?

Judging by your story, you do not have enough skills and a certain strategy of the game. The sense of superman is haunted by more poker novices, going into the game with a garbage hand is already a loss and one can not hope for super luck. A poker game for a beginner is 10% knowledge and 90% luck and for a professional 90% knowledge and 10% luck. Try to work on yourself, analyze the game, where you did not do right, but where too confidently! On the Internet, a lot of free lessons on poker strategy, watch these videos, see how professionals play. Good luck in the game and you will succeed.

You're not the only one in my situation. I regularly lose concentration for 4-5 hours of the game. And this is a big problem

It's really difficult to keep patience. It is difficult to give advice, because every person reacts differently. Everyone had problems when one of the players at the table constantly poses all-in. You think he has bad cards and put all-in too with weak hand, but this is a big mistake, because other players can have good hands and you will lose everything.
if you want to play poker for fun, then play all hands if you like it. But if you are serious and want to make money, learn how to be patient and do not go on provoking other players.

I also do not have the patience for long tournaments, I win a lot of chips at the beginning of the tournament and then for 2-3 hands I'm all
I lose, but now I'm waiting for a good card and then I play until the end of the tournament and I hold back patience, even if it bothers me to sit all the same

if I'm not ready to sit in the tournament for 7-8-9 hours for a long time, I try to play tournaments where I can play 2-3-4 hours and I need a lot of patience and then I get the result, only patience helps

Wait around too long folding rubbish hands and your stack soon goes down.
You have to play and bluff sometimes if no premium hands come along.

Solid disciplined players benefit from being patient and maximizing on profitable opportunities as they arise. These opportunities arise in random time intervals throughout the tournament, and it is up to us to recognize them so we can act accordingly. These opportunities are unique to each player due to sizes of stacks, blind levels, and game flow.

you can keep your patience when you already have a broader poker rhythm when you play with a lot of players and you realize that there are some that play like crazy and they beat you .... it's going to happen many times or good to me it happens to me much .... and I've tried to keep calm ... as in the cardchat tournaments that are for me somewhat long and do not always come out the best hands !!!
It's a matter of relaxing and wanting to win !!

I think that patience is very important in poker. It is very difficult for me to remain patient, especially when I lose a big pot.

That's a problem I've always had too. Probably most players. It's tough keeping your concentration on a game that's lasted for hours. I have to keep reminding myself not to donk away my chips by trying too many bluffs or playing bad hands.
I have to remind myself to be patient and wait for the cards. They will come.
I'll keep checking the tourney stats and see where I am. Am I above the average stack? How far from the money am I?
Someone mentioned meditation. I put on meditation music/Binaural beats from YouTube when I'm in a tournament. Hoping it keeps my mind at a steady calm state, so I don't go crazy and bluff away my chips. I think it helps.

In most poker tournaments you need to invest many hours of play ... therefore we must be prepared for stress and therefore impatience .... it is not easy to be calm and relaxed after 8 hours of play in form continues .... only those players who prepare well and have the ability to be calm and keep the patience are those who manage to win such long tournaments ....

I have a love/hate thing going with tournaments. I love making a deep run and getting to the final table as binking one means $$$

Now the hate thing comes in when you play hours upon hours and end up as the bubble boy :/

Like all relationships, the higher the highs the lower the lows.

I have no problem keeping my cool in the game.

My main problem is when I have an excellent hand, and I lose.

It stresses me in such a way that I end up doing crazy things in the game.
But overall, I am very conscious in my actions.
