Hi all
I am bored its 4 oclock in the morning here and i have put in
another 10 hours of playing. I am not sure what i may play
now i have added another 100k to my play money and $11 bucks
to my real money

Anyway I was just thinking have any of you noticed how that
the average bad player does not ever get any better. I am constantly
reading etc trying to tighten up my game i can take any tournament
deep now even the turbos and i cash most of the time but i see
people making the same stupid moves over and over

I had a hand today went like this

I had A 7 clubs. I bet from UTG like i usually do when i want to steal
the pot and got called by the button. Immediately i figured he was
trying to position play me. Anyway the flop came down with 2 clubs
and a 10 of diamonds. I bet 75% of the pot which is my standard
continuation bet, got that from annette_15 who is a very cool chick
btw anyway and the loser raises me. Now yes i was the big stack
at the table BUT he only raised me 3x my bet so now i had basically
3 to 1 odds to call his bet and i had the nut flush draw. With 2 cards
btw. Now yes I know pot odds are 4.2 to 1 im gonna hit but with 2 cards
my odds are like 2.2 to 1 so I call
The turn is a queen of clubs. Now i know he is trying to steal the pot
so i try to scare him off i bet 75% of the pot AGAIN which by now is
quite high. THE LOSER RERAISES ME ALL IN
Now there is no pair on board and any straight i have already beat
so i am wondering what the heck he could possible have. I am figuring
he tripped up but i think thats pretty unlikely with his preflop bet
noone sane bets a low pair that way with an UTG raise so i call his bet
showdown comes and he has AK !!!!
I am ashamed to admit i laughed at him and called him all kind of stupid
names. I seriously don't understand what the heck he was thinking neither
one of them was even a CLUB
Then HE got mad at me and said that i was a donkey for playing Ace Rag
under the gun.

I'm sorry I thought they were MY cards and i can play them however i choose

Oh well

remember

I really cant give a full analysis on this since I dont know stack sizes, blinds, you opponents play style, your recent playing style-though it seems to be a bit loose/aggressive. From what I can gather, though I may be way off, I believe the villain made a standard re-raise on the flop with the AK. Im guessing the flop is rag clubs + 10 of diamonds and the villain probably has you pegged for missing the board and his AK is the best hand..which it was. You called and the Qc came out giving you the nuts. You bet and the villain shoves all in. Here, I believe his thinking might be that you probably arent betting out with your club draw or the turn flush. You might have a Q, but the villain might be able to represent a flush with a shove. Also, if you call the shove, the villain has draws to the J for a straight or an A or K if he doesn't put you on a made flush. This is just my read on the situation.

One thing I want to know is are you calling the villain a 'loser' because he lost the hand or as an insult? And why did you feel it was necessary to call the villain a bunch of stupid (and probably insulting) names? Does it make you feel like a big man/woman? Try being humble about your wins instead of insulting others. You seem like someone who might know a thing or two, but you're coming off as a complete jerk.

I was just wondering why you felt the need to call him anything, but I really dont see the point into getting into it.

Have a nice day as well.

Ha ha, what an idiot! I suppose in his defence he was re-raising you on the flop when he was ahead, and you sucked out to win, but what a loser!

$11 and 100,000 play chips, sweet!! Not bad for a days work!

What the hell is wrong with your paragraphs?

Anyway, I have admit, your story is a bit boring. A hint of brag + a splash of jerk, which you apologized for but all-in-all its a bit boring. Nothing exciting and its not even a great example of what you said in the paragraph before it.

Anyway I was just thinking have any of you noticed how that

If my analysis on the hand is correct, then your opponents play wasn't as bad as you think and technically, you made the obv. bad play on the flop when you called the raise. I guess there can be an argument for it being an OK call because of implied odds, but since you didnt mention anything about that in the OP or given a good reason for calling.

Highlight of the story is the shout out to Annette Obrestad, IMO.

You bet out on your draw on the flop and your opponent raised giving you about 3:1 odds on your money to call. Here your opponent can be betting out with a set, an over pair, a pair of tens, a big Ace. The raise is only giving you 3:1 odds, but you need about 4:1 odds to call chasing a flush on the turn. You technically have 12 outs with the 9 clubs and three remaining sevens, but I dont see how you can hit a seven and think you have the best hand. So, with that said you're calling a raise trying to hit a flush with improper odds, which is a pretty common mistake/bad play. Of couse, this pretty straight forward view on the situation, but if we factor in implied odds, stake sizes, style of play, etc, it might not be a bad move at all. Which is why I said technically, you made the bad play.

no u need 4 to 1 to call chasing a flush on RIVER not turn
on turn u need about 2.2 to 1
check the math

there are 9 outs on the river with 37 cards left
meaning u have 4.2 to 1
but i made the call on the TURN which gives me 2 cards
and practically (not exactly but practically) give me 2.2 to 1
which is MUCH more than i needed i had 3 to 1
Its a common mistake but i just started re-studying pot odds
and how people miscount them

It's only 2.2 to 1 if you get to see both cards. If the turn isn't a club and he makes the same move, all you've done is give away your chips.

BTW, we all look brilliant when we catch, but would you have posted this hand had the turn been the Qs???

That's only for an all-in. Otherwise there will be betting on the turn. Odds for 2 cards only work if you're paying that much to see two cards. You were paying that much to see one card, and had bad odds. You didn't give any details like stack sizes or reads so I can't say whether it was good/bad based on implied odds but you do need 4 to 1 odds to make calling the turn profitable without taking implied odds into account.

So I take it youre not an "average bad player"? What do you consider yourself I'd like to know? Average good player? Pro? Semi Pro? Good enough to sit at the private table at Bellagio? No I dont notice how "average bad players" never improve. Who are you talking to when you ask this question? Fellow good players like yourself?

Philthy after reading your posts on the boards I really am impressed by your insight to the game. I had to say that considering the types of post like these I been seeing. You know the type that says I am good, I win, I get in the money, even though Im playing micro, and everyone else is a donk type of post. Its just refreshing to read your words.

i consider myself a decent player
and once again i said JUST RAMBLING in my title
this thread was basically a place to vent
and YES i had 2.2 to 1 odds to see the turn
and then 4.1 odds on the river period
so if i HADNT hit the club on the turn then it
would have been a different story
PLUS sometimes you hve to look at the big
picture, i had the nut fush with 3 to 1 odds
and two cards to come
You asked if i was good enough to sit
at the private table at bellagio, I would like to
think so but it really doesnt have a qualification
I am going to the wsop on june 28th and we will
all know if i am deluding myself or if i am good
what i WILL say is that i came on here to meet new
people and maybe learn new things NOT to be insulted
and made fun of and if that is what i brought on myself
than i apologize

Actually its 4:1 to see the turn after the flop and 4:1 to see the river after the turn. The villains flop raise gave you improper odds to call. It is about 2.2:1 to see it on the turn and the river, but thats only if there is going to be no more betting since you're paying to see 2 cards. Since the opponent wasn't all in on the flop and could still bet on the turn, this will not apply and we are looking at the odds for each individual street; flop > turn and turn > river. Which is still 4:1. Again, implied odds might come into play but without full details, I cant say.

And no one is making fun of you.

No one, in this thread at least, has been insulting to you. But if you think they have just imagine how you'd feel if someone had called you an idiot. Now imagine that same person who called you an idiot did it only AFTER they took your chips. I think you're smart enough to get the picture. Throwing around insults at the table is just bad form.
