Jerry Yang has won the wsop 2007 and is taking home a cool $8.25million as well as his first world series of poker bracelet.

Tuan Lam came 2nd for $4.8million.

Jerry Yang called himself a "rookie" coming to his first World Series of Poker tournament ever. He then went on to knock out 7 of the 9 players from the final table.

i've heard everything from "he's a complete asshole" to "he's an awesome genuine guy" and "he was a lucky donk" to "he completely owned the final table".

not that i really care that much (i probably won't even watch it when it airs on TV over here in 437895 years time), but can someone clarify?

I don't really get why people think things like this should be spoilered. *shrug*

I'd imagine most people prefer to watch a competition without already knowing the outcome

In this case that's going to be pretty much impossible unless you stick your head in a hole for a few months. If you really wanted to watch it, you'd have got (or 'obtained' if you get my meaning, from what I hear it wasn't difficult ^^) the PPV broadcast. :p

It's like asking people to spoiler the results of the Superbowl or something because you recorded it and want to watch it a few days after, it's just not gonna happen, unfortunately.

I avoided knowing Jamie Gold won until it aired. It can be done

All I'm saying is, topic title: "The WSOP 2007 Main Event Champion is..."

would that be so hard? Seems inarguably better, at least salvaging a chance for the people who'd rather avoid the information, or at least try to

I'd just like if that could be done next time so I don't have to avoid this forum for a long time when it comes around, cause I rather like it around here

Then we'll have to agree to disagree, I suppose. :)

What are we disagreeing on? I'm telling you as a fact that I've avoided the information before, and I'm telling you also that I'm not the only single person who uses this forum who would greatly appreciate if it were handled the way I suggested, in the future. You've yet to mention any sort of drawback to that method because, reasonably, there is none. It seems like you're just being stubborn. I'm just saying it'd be appreciated. Anyway, I'm out of this topic, spoil away

i would guess Nick could title his thread simply -- Announcing the winner of the WSOP 2007 ... however i have to agree that even if combuboom avoided that -- the information is likely going to come up in another thread somewhere unless you avoid reading anything until you have viewed it ... i agree its more exciting not to know but with today's instanteous cyberspace communication pretty tough to avoid big news ... any news for that matter

I avoided knowing till i viewed ESPN's coverage later in the year for the past 2 years no problem at all.
A spoiler would have been good here for those wishing to wait.
This year i decided to get all the information i could as it happened so im not effected in any way but i understand where combuboom is coming from.
Spoilers were up for ongoing discussions in the "as it was happening" thread.
That definitely helped for those wishing to avoid the result.

I ordered the coverage on pay per view and watched most of it. Although the champion was a donk... he stuck to his strategy and continued to pull the trigger, even when he didn't have any bullets. The guy just caught the cards to win. I really wanted the runner up to win... he seemed like the most patient of all the players and played a real solid final table.

I'm sorry, but coming into a poker forum and being unhappy at getting WSOP results spoiled is somewhat akin to going into a butcher's shop and asking for a vegetarian option, then being outraged when they tell you they don't have any.

Seriously, I don't know of any poker forum on the web that is demanding that WSOP stuff be spoilered, just like I know that despite never visiting an american football forum in my life that none (or at most a negligible amount of them) would demand that it's users mark Superbowl results as spoilers.

The simple fact is that it's news, and news doesn't need spoiler tags.

Yea - If I didn't want to know who won I would have to avoid poker forums - and probably poker sites as well until I could watch it. Not really worth all that lol.

don't worry you'll realize within the first 10-15 hands of this final table who is going to win

Ban all spoilers related to poker then.

Agreed. Kinda tough when "That's what we do." There's a few feeds on my Yahoo page that spoiled it before I got to CC this morning, anyway. CC is definitely NOT the #1 news source for WSOP results.

Ahem...the Superbowl is broadcast live for free. But we get your point. LOL

Yep, but ESPN can't be too happy either. I think they need to start editing more quickly and start showing the ME's a week or 2 afterwards, instead of months later. Then show the other events later. The sequence won't matter.

Just a few threads below this one Jack Daniels started a thread titled "2007 WSOP Main Event Discussion Thread-POST HERE" ( May contain spoilers )

He seemed to be able to pull that off with considerable and considered ease.

His main reason for doing it was to keep the place tidy from unknown amounts of 2007 WSOP threads being started etc.

But he added a spoilers warning to it, and with over 200 subsequent posts i think he done a fine job of it just by applying thoughtfulness and consideration.

From an observational point of view, what we have here are 2 different threads both started by admin, one with a spoiler warning and one without.

I doubt very much that Nick was trying to spoil anything and in hindsight might have added a spoiler warning to his thread.

Admin need to get together and discuss this so that in can be avoided when possible in the future because from an observational point of view ( mine on this occasion ) it is sending out mixed messages.
