Probably because he is a poker dud who lucked out and played one decent tournament. He hasn't done anything sense then and many said that he wouldn't (which is probably why he never drew any endorsements from Full Tilt where he qualified from). He reminds me of Jamie Gold.

He realizes he got VERY lucky and isnt going to be like Gold and redistribute the money into the poker economy.

(which is probably why he never drew any endorsements from Full Tilt where he qualified from).

From wiki...

"He entered the 2007 World Series of Poker after winning a US$225 satellite at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, CA."

Jerry Yang was in the 2008 National Heads Up Championship. And he played in at least two 2008 WSOP prelim events. One of them he busted out on the first hand of the play. The other, he lasted a few levels.

Love or hate Jerry, it's ultimately up to him whether he wants to be a poker pro. Just because you win the ME doesn't mean you want to be going all around the world. While most people associate the ME champ with being a poker ambassador, it's not a requirement.

^hes not that bad of a player, yes he was lucky but u have to be lucky to win, plus he made some decent plays

jerry yang made a choice to stay out of the spot light, something to do with religion and charity work and other stuff

Hevad stole the show

yeah he does, and I didnt care much for all the praying during play:)

The most memorable player of that series will have to be RainKhan for me

though, at first he was irritating and annoying, then funny, and finally as

a likeable, and memorable charicter. I have heard nothing about Yang

either, oh well, bring on the next champ.

Honestly, Jerry Yang defied the odds during that tournament. He kept winning with inferior hands and catching his outs (regardless of the religious commotion). He's JJ beat out QQ, his 4's beat out something higher (can't recall, something above him but he caught a 4 on the flop). He continually outlucked everyone at the table and he won because it was just his tournament. Can't fault him for it but it's why he isn't a well known pro at this point. He's not consistent and he never will be.

Honestly, if you watch the whole WSOP from 2007 and 2006, it's pretty evenly milked. Jamie Gold played some hands that he definitely shouldn't have (evan as chip leader) and lucked out postflop. The same thing happened with Yang on his final table. He didn't deserve to win one bit but he pulled out the victory. I'll reiterate what I said before...that's exactly why he has no advertising or endorsement contract now. He completely lucked out during last year's world series and nobody wants to risk looking like they endorsed someone who couldn't play poker and relied on religion to escape with victory.

Nothing against religion by any means as I consider myself a decently religious person but Jerry Yang took it a few steps too far and should probably thank any and all religious connections as it is over now and his time in the spotlight is up.

Just because your favorite sports team has a team prayer, doesn't mean their win is a gift from God. It means their natural talent + practice and a better strategy/play = victory. And just because BINGO is played in a church on Wednesday night doesn't mean God wants you to play BINGO and/or gamble.

You can't rely on religion to win at poker any more than you can rely on Altoids to win at poker(but you'll probably make a lot more friends with your powerfully minty breath! especially if you share). I have a lucky feather. It's my good luck charm. Lots of times I win with my lucky feather sitting atop my monitor. Am I relying on the feather for victory? Is the feather God? Of course it isn't.

I'm reminded of Dumbo though, and I think I'll see about everything when I see an elephant fly(someone's gonna insert a Raymer joke, I can feel it).

i was trying to determine which language this was written in

Is it not a bastardized form of a Norman Chad-ism combined with elementary Spanish?

Wait I can very loosely translate.

First in better(but not much) Spanish + bad-Chad: Jaime Oro conseguido mucho tiempo de television - mientras que Jerry conseguido squadoosh!

Now in English + "good"-Chad: Jamie Gold got a lot of television time while Jerry got squadoosh!

Norman Chad cracks me up!

wsop coverage would be so boring without him.

and your right, Yang got no coverage before the final table, I think I saw

him in 1 hand before the final.
