\I started a thread a few days ago saying "how did this guy win the wsop and showed a video of him vs sammy on the AA vs KK hand on HSP. So now its really got my curiosity. So does any one know if Jamie Gold has gone broke? I read stories like he bounced a check at a casino I've seen videos where he loses two pots where he gets stacked in both and just keeps reloading but I haven't found any stories that 100% shows that he has gone broke. I haven't heard about him in a long time he kind of just vanished what do you guys know? any links on any information on him?

"12 MILLION WINNER JAMIE GOLD"

is actually more like this......

1/2 of 12 million to crispin = 6 million remaining.
30% - 35% of 6 million to taxes = 4 million remaining.
$400,000 lost on high stakes poker = 3.6 million remaining.
$1,000,000 given to close family and friends. = 2.6 million remaining.
$500,000 invested into business = 2.1 million remaining.
$700,000 towards house, car, bills = 1.4 million remaining.
$500,000 blow on misc things over last 4 years. = - 1 million remaining.

so figure he actually has approx $500,000 to $700,000 left over as of today.

Eastgate is a way better player as Gold.

Gold could be broke, Eastgate broke? I don't believe that and Eastgate sold it for charity.

I haven't heard anything, but all poker players go broke sooner or later!

Here is one. I never ever made an initial deposit with my own money<-- Meaning money I didn't make with poker.

Started of with freerolls, just winning a few cents here and there,
building these cents into dollars and those dollars into BR's.

With those build up BR's, I cashed out to neteller that is where it really started. I just kept moving it around and build it , also have like 1.5k in Euro's in expenses each month and have no job for over 5 years.

Still I am here and not broke!

TYVM Vinyl! Balancing is imo always one of the toughest things in life.

Am happy you bring this up btw, as it let me look a bit better to myself.
And it triggered me to doing things better this upcoming period!

I am still far away from where I want to be. (getting a bit off topic)

Financially it is going well , BR/Poker wise as well , but there are other more important things wich in my case I still have to work on (the sooner the better)

Weight: I have been very sportive person, when I was younger, but lately I have noticed that I probably gained like 10KG , because I don't be so active anymore, also when going a day away with daughters and wife I often get very tired , so stamina is way worse than before, also when playing poker for 6+ hours I have noticed this will break me up. Health wise this isn't the best case scenario as well.

Smoking more doesn't help as well, tried to quit for good numerous times , I am just to weak for that atm. <-- still hope that day will come and it won't be when I am dead :D

Eating way more and doing less active things is a bad combo as well :D
Doing less active things ,because I don't go out of the house often.

It look likes a vicious circle I am in. Where I have to get out.

Gotta balance all these things better and think there isn't a better period to do so, THE SUMMER!

(Sorry for thread derail)
just answering Mstr of dsstr here. yea man, it really is hard to keep being active(gym, going out, sports) when ur a poker player. i sure can relate to that.

and smoking as well. horrible side effects of playing poker. i myself am trying to get out more and not hang inside allday but what can u do? the game is time consuming so its really hard t be doing both. i apprciate the answer .

sorry OP for the derail.

Don't apologise for a thread derail. Shit, the original topic concerned Jamie Gold. The more derails the better IMO.

Yes, and not to sound like an a completely out of touch ass, but it wasn't THAT MUCH money TO SOMEBODY who lives in LA and likes to fancy himself a "producer".

You can easily burn through 300/400k/yr just living that LA lifestyle depending on where you are living in California.

I am NOT saying I understand WHY he chose to live in Califorrnia or like that....that is more of a psychological deal.

One of the huge issues Gold has is he never got a PStars/Tilt deal...and those-at that time- were worth around 500k/1 million all told a yr.(some of this is in buying/travel allowance)

He only had that bodog deal for a short time, and bc his likeability was generally perceived as quite low, bc he was an American male in his 30s and bc he really didn't appeal to an underdeveloped demographic (pretty sure bi coastal American Jews play poker already, lol) he never really had a shot at a huge deal a la the Aulstralian champ.

You have to be looking at parlaying a WSOP crown into at least 5-10 million in residual income if you are smart about things.

hey, im not saying that its not possible to blow alot of money in short times. of course its possible. and esp in LA or new york or wherever. The thing im thinking is that if someone suddenly ends up with 4 million in his hands and loses it without having anything to show for it, then in my OPINION hes a total idiot.
but i mean TOTAL IDIOT.

I mean, I agree, but I also think a person making 40-90k at a job who go out and spend 25k+ on a new car lent to them at some 6%+ interest rate is insane too.

Also, all the morons who had expected to live in Mcmansions and who werent rich were insane.

Also, the idea that every person who can get a 23 on the ACT needs to go to a 4 yr university is insane.

Also, the idea that someone is a loser if they go back to live with their parents after college (well, seeing how like 87% of people do it now...) for a few yrs to create some savings so they can be secure/debt free when they start paying for shelter is insane.

There are a lot of insane things going on in the American psyche vis a vis money...it's a spend spend spend, now now now mentality that is finally starting to break down hopefully.

Derail +1 MOD, I am fat and do not get out much either. I got a dog now and that forces me to go out for walks. (10 lbs lighter) It has also helped my game I think? Jamie Gold was fun to watch with all his shit talk. It really would not surprise me if he is broke though. Some of the lines he took in hands spell run bad.

It's insanely easy to go broke after a big win especially if the person wasn't rich before the big win 90% of lottery jackpot winners go broke within 5 years and a large % of pro athletes go broke aswell ESPN had a documentary "30 for 30" about po athletes going broke it was quite good.
