I've been bankrolled for tommorow - need some adivce

Morning all, or evening in some cases.

A mate of mine has given me the buy-in for the Sunday million tomorrow

If you follow my posts you'd know i play 5% rule, currently have a small bankroll and am playing .01/.02 NL

I've played many multi's b4 and cash around 1 in 6 games. but these games vary between a 10c buyin and $1.10 buyin.

I've played the Sunday million 3 times before and never made it past the first hour I think i panic too much in the damn game.

What, if any, advice would you give for my situation tommorow. I'me really excited but also thinking that the people io play wont be the people i come acrosss on a daily basis on my ring games.

I have played the nightly hundread grand a few times, 1 time did rather well, came 44th out of 956, got knocked out by T Soprano, (KdJd vs 44) I didn't hit .

My stratergy at this stage will be too play super-tight, and try to keep the pots small. Also not commiting unless i have the nuts.

Would love to hear from people that have had expirences like this before.

I would play tight til the donkeys thin out. Take advantage of seeing flops for cheap.
Dont commit to a pot unless you know you have it. None of that calling a huge bet just cause you think you MIGHT have them beat. Be patient.

At the same time as all of that. Dont play so tight that people realize and start pushing you around.

WITH PLAYING ONLINE I BELIEVE IT IS AS SEPERATE AS THE MOON AND THE SUN WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYING LIVE AND ONLINE. SO WITH THAT YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT online poker ANYTHING AND I MEAN ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. I DONT CARE IF YOU HAVE 7 2 OFFSUIT OR AA YOU CAN WIN OR LOSE EITHER VERY EASILY. THERE ARE A LOT OF DONKEYS OUT THERE JUST GOING ALL IN WITH NOTHING,AND RAISING BIG WITH CRAP. SO IN CONCLUSION IF I WERE YOU I WOULD PLAY TIGHT WAIT FOR YOUR hands RELAX DRINK A BEER AND DONT PUSH HARD LET THE OTHER PLAYERS PUSH YOU, ALSO IF YOU FOLD A LOT TO GET GOOD HANDS THE TABLE WILL SEE THAT YOU ARENT PLAYING EVERY HAND, THEN WHEN YOU PLAY IT MAY BE EASIER FOR YOU TO bluff OR PUSH A HAND, THEY WILL THINK MORE LIKELY THAT YOU HAVE A HAND IN MY OPINON. Survival, its a long tourny so play a survival game. Also id avoid limping in at all since a lot of the people in the tourny will have bought straight in and will be consistent performers at the level, all of whom will have a much better game than you. So you want to avoid playing pots agaisnt people who are better, therefore stick to waiting for big hands and playing a,b,c poker. Bet when you have something, check when you don't, you also need to play a bit of position and make steals from the button or CO so that when you do raise pre flop with premium hands, people will still give you action

Thank you all so far, you all raise very good and valid points. Another question i have, in my game style with MTT's i generally play off a short stack (sometimes mid-stack) I've never been able to accumulate enough chips to play off a large stack.

My question is regarding my M. Should i be un-fortunate to get really short stacked, when should i pretty much shove blind?

Generally if M is around 10 i shove with A high or pairs or hands like KQ, KJ, KTs etc. but if i drop to 5 i generally shove blind.

Should i follow a similar principle in the Sunday million.

To clarify something I've said i shove blind around 5 M or so, but if I'm on the button with 5 M and the BB has more than enough to call without hurting his own stack, i try to wait a little longer, knowing that they probably see me as desperate and will take any opportunity to take another player out.

So, overall, if i get realy short when should i make my move, i want to obviously avoid this from happening but need to be realstic about any situation.

You said you were given the funds for this tourney, correct? If so, it is really not costing you anything, so dont be afraid to lose anything. Dont be scared money, when you have it go for it, but at the same time, dont play like an idiot and put it all in without being sure of having the best hand. watch the pokerxfactor of annette winning the 100 grand (url in a thread here) and then run good. Playing "tight" is not allways the best, playing scared is a sure way to fail. Remember early on many want to double up and will gamble with crud, if you got to goods dont be afraid to take their chips. When the blinds are low you are effictivly playing deep stack so if you have a monster you must be raiseing a percentage of stack not 3/4 x bb or you will get called with crud.

Never? Maybe you're playing too tight? As the saying goes, "In order to live you must be willing to die." I don't think anybody gets to the final table without winning at least a couple big coin flips.

As for M and going all-in, Harrington on Hold'em Volume II covers that very nicely. Basically with an M of 10 you look for opportunities, and if you get down to 5 you shove any pot that has yet to see action regardless of your cards.
