First, in regards to this thread's title: That's what she said.

Second: This seems like sort of a pointless post, but let me try to harvest some subject matter...

Realistically, the landscape has changed dramatically since Black Friday. Everybody is playing at least slightly less online poker and, in the U.S., we are getting bored like this more often than not.

The challenge I guess is to change your view of poker. Online poker should be something played for fun. If you want to be a pro poker player, you should try getting to live events and start playing that scene. Online poker playing is becoming too risky as a means to pay the bills. Maybe you need to start looking at ways to change up your game? Treat the game more as a hobby and maybe you will find more interest in it.

Poker should be fun. If it isn't maybe try something else?

I agree. I miss the other sites, especially full tilt. Am mostly playing at Carbon, but it is nice to have other options. The government protects us out of all freedoms!

Uh, nope. I don't think I said anything in my post about "... and get somebody to bank-roll you, that is always awesome!". Though it is very very very true.

Let me know if you get somebody to do that for you. Though I can't help you out with your bankroll I would certainly let somebody help me with mine!

What I was making reference to is > to be bankrolled for live tournaments is more difficult than online (live tournament play > tournaments are few & far between, buyins are typically much higher = more difficult to manage a bankroll). < probably didn't word that correctly.
Suggesting that online play now should be 'just for fun' is great but in many cases there are players who have been playing online as their sole source of income & for a guy who's typicaly playing 30-50mtt's/day online with Avg.buyin ~$50 & then translating that over to live tournament play... there's really just no comparison at all.

I understand. I wasn't trying to trivialize the loss that professional online poker players are dealing with. The fact of the matter is that this was a huge blow to several hard working people. I just think that the reality of the world we live in post-"Black Friday" is one where especially those who rely on this as a source of income need to be more cautious. Depositing any appreciable amount of money is dangerous stuff when you don't know from one day to the next if that site will even be there.

Going to a live tournament schedule to augment the changed online landscape is a bit much to ask. What other options are there though? If you want to make money playing poker are you really that confident that you will be able to to sustain an income through online poker? What steps could/should somebody take to protect themselves in this environment?
