You can win. But it depends on you how much money you can devote to the game of poker, what's your experience of the game. I've been playing for 4 years, and won for this time only about $ 1,000. But that's because I play only freerolls. I have no way due to lack of money to play the big tournaments. My biggest win on pokerstars $ -735 in the tournament with a $ 1.35 Bain. The box office at the time I was 26 $. My salary does not allow me to play the way I want.

If you get those kind of questions in your mind, I'd advise you not to. You must want to play poker and be dedicated to it if you want it to be "worth". Remember, there's no easy money, in order to win and it to be "worth" to play, you must have skills, which can be obtained by learning and being dedicated.

Yes and no....
I mean, if you don't want or like to play it's not worth it, but having to be dedicated depends on your goal.
If you want to improve some dedication is needed because you'll need to study.
If you just want to play for fun every now and than and really don't care about results, there's no real dedication needed.

So is it worth playing ?
Really depends on what you want to get outof it.
Though, if your only goal while playin, is to make instant money, it could become a very disappointing experience.

I totally agree if you have to ask the question you already have your answer. In my own case I am on the on the tables on Bovada 14-16 hours a day playing MTTs usually 8-10 a day with maybe a 2 hour break in the afternoon if I'm lucky. In January 2016 I will be taking the Bovada bankroll adding it to about $500ish in savings and moving to Las Vegas where I will be a full time live tournament player playing 3-4 tournaments a day plus limit cash games in between. My workday will be 15-18 hours a day Mon-Fri. with weekends off.

Do I ever ask if it's worth it? Absolutely not because to me the question is senseless. It's not only worth it it's a craving a passion that can't be stopped. Long work days, no health insurance, no retirement, and more mental stress than anyone can imagine and I would not give up the lifestyle I have entered and will be entering in Las Vegas for anything in the world.

Good for you!
If you really love something you go for it!

edit. Its poker after all so if you feel that you are losing and are addiceted= gambling addiction then you need help. But if you don't you obv go for it. Poker is just as everything else in the world.

Poker - competitive game. Winning the competition requires both skill and luck. Many find this a special charm and compare poker to sports. But be careful and do not take poker as entertainment only. Otherwise, you can significantly lose.

Definitely worth! This is a game that requires a lot of concentration and focus on the big period of time, and it is well developed brain.

The question begs attention to your personal mental "game". You need to have your mental game tight to play poker successfully. No one will argue against this.

There is money to be made, I can only speak for low micro stakes. I have beaten $2nl over 70k hands for 6bb/100 . I am starting $5nl this week which should ramp up the "worth" if I continue to be successful.

All that being said. The game is beatable still. So why aren't you beating it? That's the question you should ask yourself and promptly work on a solution. Find out what winning players are doing that you are not.

I started with online poker six months ago, made around 50$ without deposit, spend a lot of time playing freerolls and since saw your post I am asking myself same question. :)

Poker is a ton of entertainment for the money. LOL - I play for free and have a great time doing so - I don't expect to make any money but occasionally somehow I do win some - so yes poker is worth playing. See ya at the tables ;)

Depends what you expect getting out of it. Why do you play in the first place? For most people it's fun and they love the play itself without thinking of becoming rich and so on.
