By giving your screen names, you are giving away much information for free. So at the table you are not an unknown anymore on any site. (big disadvantage)

I like to stay as anonymous as possible so people can't link my screen names together.

I don't know about you, but I think poker is a game of information and the more information you give, the less profitable you are likely to be.

That being said, I noticed that CC is asking for all your screen names to be put in your profile to gain access to the freerolls. And I think those are visible to other members right?

Screen names are only visible to the mods, however it's not hard for people to find out who you are if you bink it and a screenshot is out there for everyone to see.

Umm I can see your screen names and so can anyone else lol. They are not private in your profile. But really I don't think its a big deal. Not many people coming on here to datamine your name and look through posts of yours to guess your skill level then come bumhunt you. I mean really thats pretty silly. Just you being on a poker forum alone shows you are trying to be more experienced than the avg fish, so why bumhunt you when theres tons of rec fish?

I'm not sure I understand the part of linking the names together, I have the same screen name almost everywhere I play online. Also those of us that have tracking software have tons of screen names, it doesn't necessarily mean you know how they play. I guess if your that worried about it play at Bovada, I hear the players at the tables there are all anonymous.

I'm not too worried, as I use my username for just about everything (including poker). But I could imagine how people could gain a massive advantage over you by your forum posts and hand histories you've posted.

Yup stayin anonymous is good . Ive seen this guy ina freeroll game , who only plays when he has the best pair and folds everyother time . And he came in a one on one sit n go . I know he wont play with no cards on board , and so i raised every single time and he ran out of blinds .
And knowin people makes us know how they act , aggresive or tight player and pretty much guess when they got good cards and when not .
But here its pretty much up to the forum . If u are worried , then dont come :) I got no problems , its fine

With shark scope and official poker ranking, lurking form this big to find info about some player is at least waste of time if not mission impossible... I dont worry about screen names, mine are same everywhere, when good player start playing with me he'll find out weather im a fish or not in few hands, he dont need to search my posts for half an hour. So in general dont mind to post your name, it is not big deal...

If I come across any of you guys i would assume you have a solid background and to just expect more often than not a pretty organised style, one thing Ive been thinking is so many players that read and chat try and mould the 'solid game'
the style it becomes a commen trait that is effective in contrast against bad and unexperienced players, But it could be exploited by a player who knows how to adjust based on how the solid optimal player is adjusting based on there observations of the opponant.

I really like all the users on here a pretty great friendly bunch of guys/girls.
but online at the poker table we may of crossed paths and in that situation we view each other as the enenemy, and its kinda hostile

I'm not a grinder and play for fun, but considering the games I usually play, I make sure my sharkscope is locked. Even though I do pretty well, I don't want my opponents to know much about me. No matter how I am doing, I will keep my stats locked so regs don't have much info on me.

In regards to CC, I don't care if you all know my screen names, since I don't mind you all knowing who I am in the fun games we play!

I can understand why like the really high stake players might choose not too but never really understood why micro stake players want to hide it. There are so many fish out there you likely won't even come up against the same players, over and over again.

If a player decides to let his screen names known then it is his decision. Players screen names should remain hidden unless a player chooses to make them available to all.

Only CC and the moderators should be able to see screen names unless specified by the user.

I assume not everyone here plays only freerolls. And some promotional freerolls have requirements to get in. Those usually have substantial prizes and any information given can cost you money.

But I know the rules as they are and I accept them so no CC freerolls for me unless they change the rules in the future.

Think you may be overstating the downside, but certainly your decision.

Putting my screen names on my profile worried me to start with but that's because I am a bit internet-paranoid when it comes to giving out personal information. But if someone really wants to read all my posts and find out all my failings as a player then they are free to do so. Maybe it's all disinformation anyway ;-)

I wouldn't be so paranoid.

In my experience as a poker coach, having my own games recorded and placed publicly for thousands to see, the people that sit you as a "fan" or watcher of your videos more often than not are fans that want to play you, and are going to end up leveling themselves on "guessing you have this type of hand bc I just saw a video" rather than playing correct strategy and making the best decision in each hand.

So if I, as a heads up player and person that has made 100s of videos lifetime, is not getting exploited due to that, I think you should be safe to put your username in your profile :)

And don't get me wrong, when I first started making videos I figured I had to look out for sharp people exploiting me, but what happened was the opposite: Guys that would never have sat me, sat me to say hi, to play some friendly games, or to get better. And that was great action to have.

Before black friday I was changing my screen name every two week except on CC. Think it kept the trackers from a firm hold on my game

It seems impossible to me... How exactly can you change tour screen name every two weeks?

CC asks what real names so that no intruder people in the freerolls, you can agree or not but I find it more just so that no intruders! With respect to the other are dead wrong! I can write that I am a fish quietly and spend tables above! So do not believe all what you write or even worry about the information that others have of you! Play your best poker, period!

My various screen names are in my Sig, so I don’t worry about it.

I don’t show the various stars, awards and levels on my avatars on
the sites though.
I just go online, play my game and hopefully rake in the pots.

I suck at poker and will freely admit it, and it should be obvious to anyone with a little bit of experience who plays at the same table, so if people want to spend a bunch of time profiling me at the microstakes based on my posts and the way I play, they can go right ahead.
