We've all won those hands that we probably shouldn't have. We get in way behind and hit that miracle river. Or, on the other hand, We do everything right, play the hand perfectly, only to lose it in the end. In your opinion is it better to play a hand correctly, or just win the hand?

You should always strive to play it correctly because that is what puts you in the black in the long run, players who habitually make bad plays do get lucky sometimes but they tend to have shrinking bankrolls.

Winning the hand this one time doesn't make what you did during the hand correct, but a lot of players fall into the trap of thinking that it does.

hi

It depends on how much money positioning and how you won if you have more to lose is not a problem but if your last money will not play so

hey gjwalk, we are playing Poker to win, and to do so we need to learn and practice all the expertise, but if we win against a better hand is only because of the variance involved in playing poker.
The same variance will kill you with the best hand and a crazy Bingo player hitting the river,
In other words, you play right to win and if at some time you win and didn't play so well, is factor in the equation as Variance: :deal:

Getting it in behind doesn't necessarily mean you made a bad play.

For example: if I have AQ on BTN with 9 BBs and it's folded to me, I'm going to jam it in. If BB happens to wake up with AK and calls, but I win, then yes, I did get lucky to win in a dominated spot, but my shove was still 100% correct.

Win is always better if you review your hands and realize your mistake.

It's more important for you to play the hand well but it always feels good when you get lucky.

I think it should be combined, depending on the level of the tournament and opponents.
In the early and middle stages, I think I planned to play properly and later the important thing is to win the hand.
If I'm wrong correct me !! :)

The main thing is to win the tournament, the tournament consists of many hands won! The main victory!

I think it is better to play right than win the hand. By playing right you can improve your game so you don't have to rely on luck to win your hands for you. By playing your hands right all the time you are improving your skill. You can still bluff and semi-bluff your hands, but by playing them the right way it should add up for you in the end.:)

Is better to play right, know how your opponents play, try to find weakness and use it against themselves in case the cards in your hand wasn´t good

Hello, yea, i think it depends how much money you have at bank and what is price of yours playing hand. But, in the long run, you should try to play right, most of yours hands, that you could get more practice and profit :)

I love this question as it opens up many interesting considerations, but perhaps the most important one to get into your mind is, of course it is important to play correctly, but it is more important to win. One little twist on this, as suggested it appears by chisel, is that if you win, then surely you have played correctly to win that hand! It doesn't matter what your opponent thinks of your play, as in poker the winning hand is the best at the showdown, or if showdown not reached, then the person who wins the pot. If you had played badly for that hand, then you would not have won.

Dont get hung up by the poker etiquette squad...they are too busy moaning about how long it takes to play a hand or telling you what you should or should not be doing! (Keep getting into their heads!)

Enjoy your poker and keep winning!

Do you know why there is fish on the tables? Because there is the river. If you chase the flush draws or go all in on your 22s on the flop despite there isn't a third 2 on the flop but you are doing it with the hopes you will hit third on the turn or the river you are gonna have a bad time.

It is more important to win but, just because we win a hand doesn't mean we can't learn from it. Those who win the most get rewarded the most. I would hate to be the guy playing every hand perfect but losing. If I was the guy playing every hand poorly but still winning, I would be grinning from ear to ear. I say keep playing poker, learn from your mistakes, and smile when you win a hand you probably shouldn't of. If your going to make it to the finish line, your gonna need a little luck along the way.

I think that playing right is worthable for long term run. But you have to win some hands playing it differently from what you have played to earn more money than expected, so you profit even more at long term, but when playing it different, have knowledge of what you're doing to not waste money.

If you play any hand that you have a stack will decrease fast. Scattered wins one hand does not mean that you are lucky in the future. In the long run you will lose often. It is better to play correctly.
