FTA: Under Senate Study Bill 1165, Iowa would be the first state to issue online poker licenses to qualified businesses. People wanting to participate in the legal online poker would register for an account at one of the licensed businesses, put money into an account at a local casino, and play poker on a regulated website.

So that, to me, sounds like they won't allow existing poker rooms to be included.

PS can you guys figure out where I live?

Yeah it seems like there isn't a whole lot of optimism for this bill passing. Oh well, at least someone is at least making an attempt to get the ball rolling.

Hell you would think that my state would be cool with it, i mean shit they were cool with gay marriages so why not poker ? I see it's bad for us adults to spend our time and money how we want but it's okay for little johnny to have 2 daddies or 2 mommies ? No wonder this country is going to hell in a hand basket, lol

I think it's amazing that in the age of the worldwide phenomenon know as the Internet, players here in the US will be confined to play only those who happen to live in the same state or territory in which they reside. Leave it to government to cripple technology to the point of excluding 99% of all other players. All in the name of the almighty tax dollar. (Sorry, but this kind of thing is just getting so old.)

What has your bigotry towards homosexuals have to do with poker legislation and corporate greed? Please try to make a reasonable argument not an offensive one . http://www.rakeback.com/news/2010/8/PPA-Commerce-Casino-HR2267-Freedom-Choice-001/

I would assume that any online poker room that is just for the state you live in would have so little traffic that everyone will just keep playing on Stars and FT.

Some people can take the "apples and oranges" comparisons to new heights.....

What has your bigotry towards homosexuals have to do with poker legislation and corporate greed? /

Good question.

Gonna go with the silly derail for a minute.......

Does this mean KQ (sooooted or not) is morally superior to KK or QQ?

I'm pretty surprised that a conservative state such as Iowa is one of the major leaders in the legalization process. You would think that most of the legislators would be completely against online poker, but I feel that it would give a lot of credibility to other states if it were passed in Iowa. Hopefully, it is able to pass, but I doubt it. It seems like every state is considering legalizing online poker, but no significant progress has been made yet.
