Hello Cardschat Community,

I'm new to poker and I'm trying to figure out all the rules to poker. I've played online and free live tournaments for two months. I'm trying figure out all the rules and nuances. If you can help me out, that would be awesome.

What hand wins and why?

Scenario 1:
Hand 1. Ace and King
Hand 2. Ace and Queen
The Flop is:
10, 2, 10, 6, 8

Scenario 2:
Hand 1: Ace and King
Hand 2: Ace and Queen
The flop is
10, Ace, 10, 6, 8

Someone told me that Hand 1 wins in both scenario but I don't really understand why. Please help explain. I would like to fully understand why. Thanks!

Hand 1 wins in both because in both cases it would go
Scenario 1:
Hand 1- 10,10,A,K,8
Scenario 2- A,A,10,10,K
Both those hands would beat hand 2 because the K is higher than the Q

you to better understand the rank of the cards try to take part in the School of pokerstara (not advertising). I learned the basics of poker there when I started playing poker. for me it was easier than reading a book

Pretty much this. This can cause a loose player to get themselves in a lot of trouble when they play :ah4: :jc4: or :ah4: :qc4: ->!!! :as4: :kh4: !!! will win majority of the time. Obviously AK > AQ is a bit of a cooler, but it does happen and you can lose a lot of chips/money cold calling an AKo 3 bet with AQ off suit or suited.
