I am down on pokerstars and 888 because of poor bankroll management. Playing games I wasn't rolled for, playing bigger and bigger buy ins when on a downswing to replinish the losses. Constantly depositing 10-20 pound here and there the occasional 50 only to play 11 dollar 5 dollar mtts 2 dollar mtts and failing to score big and either losing my roll due to ill confidence after a bad beat or chasing losses. On pokerstars I was down 1,500 pound as of last week and on 888 I was down 650. For the last 2 weeks I have been excercising bankroll management sticking to a 100 buy in strategy.

Not only am I getting way more volume but my game has improved due to not tilting from a bad beat since I'm risking less and building a bankroll. I have started to right down on a sheet of paper my buyin, game type, prize earned and profit for a particular game. It makes the game for me more interesting since now I can keep track of my games and also in what level of buyin I am and game type which is most profitable for me.

I deposited 10 pounds into pokerstars after busting my 70 pound bankroll 3 days prior and 25 pound into my 888 account. My strategy was as follows. On pokerstars I would play mtt satellites for 0.20-0.50 cents and spin and gos for 0.25 cents. Doing so I managed to build a 74 dollar bankroll in just 2 days. I was crushing the spin and gos winning around 8 out of 10 of them and I was winning the majority of my satellites allowing me to play in tournaments I aint rolled for but am rolled to qualify for. Fast forward 2 weeks I had made a profit of 700 from the 10 pounds I deposited on pokerstars. I finished 2nd in the Saturday speedway which I won a satellite for 20 cents for. I withdrew 450 but I'm now rolled to play 3 dollar mtts and 2 dollar satellites. On 888 I doubled my bankroll playing 1 dollar sngs. I now understand the importance of bankroll management. It not only builds your bankroll but keeps you sane and disciplined. I have been lucky to win what I've won but I honestly believe managing my bankroll allowed that luck to be possible because I was making calls in spots I would have otherwise fold because I can take more risks.

I used to win but then quickly lose at big bets or buy expensive tournaments, I did not manage the bankroll and I was losing money, now if I win then I try to manage the bankroll well and lose less money, and managing the bankroll is very important in poker!

Definitely bankroll management is very important if you want to become better player. Maybe most important is to always keep your buyin amount adequate to your bank. Some people hesitate to go back to lower buyin levels when their bank starts to drop which can quickly lead to whole bank bust in a short time when variance hits you.

hello this is exactly what i do. As for writing down game types and results it is good idea but i get tired of it and made a simple program on python to enter my results on different games and store and show results. If you want to try it or any other cc member i can share

Now that I've read what you have suffered, how much money you have lost, I understand that my loss is small. I did very well that I shared the story here. I'm sorry for your loss of money but I'm glad you follow Bankroll Management. I will study the same thing more deeply and slowly to build my bankroll. I wish you great success and a bigger bankroll!

Hi.
In order not to lose much, try to play freerolls.
When you start to win in freerolls you can try to play more expensive tournaments.
Good luck.

I agree can't lose anything if its free to play and all there is to do is lose nothing or win and gain some! I have never even deposited one cent on Acr. Won a freeroll for my first bankroll. If you can't win freerolls how do you expect to win tournaments you have to pay for!?
My problem is i keep bouncing back and forth from about $40 to $70. Playing cheap jackpot and sitngo 2.0 for small wins and some loses and spending alot of time playing without any big payout! How do i turn $50 into 100s or thousands??
I guess practice with freerolls into you get good at winning thos then move to higher paying tournaments with bigger buy inns.

the success of poker is in bankroll management, you need to take this as an empress, a working capital, if you start playing buy-in that commits your BR a lot, it is wrong unless you play just for fun, more From what I saw, you're not one of these. Good game

As somebody who has struggled with brm and is working on it them self I am very happy to hear this! I hope you can keep it going! I am working on my discipline and I think the worst is playing 5 hours to win $1.50 or something small like that

If you wanna play the game professionally that is wanna to earn money and fame then bankroll management is must. But if your approach if fun and Time pass then bankroll management is not for you.I have never played poker to get money from it. I just play for fun and in last 3 years I have deposited $30 only once and did manage to move my bankroll from $0 to $1000+ and $1000+ to $0 but it does not bother me as I am an expert stock trader and I earn tremendously well.
So just identify your needs and approach towards the game and then take the appropriate steps towards bankroll.
