Playing hands that should not be played can cost you chips and end your fun earlier than you expect, for this reason playing poker ends up becoming a very good patience exercise that will help you in other areas of your life!

Do you usually have the patience to stay calm during a tournament?

Discipline is important in poker. And in normal life this quality can be useful. But we are all living people and sometimes we do not have enough patience. It can be expensive. I try to be patient.

On many occasions I have a lot of patience, at other times I do not use the same tactics, and I have to agree with you, that really patience is everything when it comes to poker

Being too patient can have negative effects as well.

it is very true that my friend, I have always said that the key to poker is patience, and I have done it by trial for that reason is what I can say from experience.

but apart from patience you have to rely on your own instinct to play those two things are the main strategy...

I do always find it funny when someone complains about someone playing a little slower. They will say something like, "slow playing is sooo boring". They are playing a big tourney, how fast do they think it will end? It won't end until the final table finishes, how ever long that will take.
To better practice at being patient, I will play play chips and set goals for myself. Like don't play a single hand until next level up no matter what I have. Then I will do the opposite sometimes play every hand. The most important one, always raise 3 times the BB, especially on the button. Good practice to raise with nothing, it gets you used to betting in position and not just betting with AA.

First of all I think that patience is a fundamental aspect when it comes to playing a tournament. Personally I tend to be patient and keep calm throughout a tournament, beyond a beat beat, I always try to keep the calm to stay cool and to see active in the tournament.

Yes, patience is my problem. I can go really well sometimes, but i can loose in poker all my chips in a few hands because of playing bad hands, or just bluff too much.

Patience is also dangerous as people can easier read someone who has folded 20 hands and finally decides to engage than someone who has played simply to mask what them playing means.

Too tight is not 'safe' it's just cowardly.

I totally agree that patience is necessary. It can be expensive to make bets on crappy cards instead of waiting for better cards or position. And if variance is kicking you butt maybe you’ll need even more patience.

Poker is not a game of immediate gratification. Be prepared to wait for the best hands and situations, and extract maximum benefit from them when they arrive; over time, the rewards will come.
