ok basically everytime i go to a casino i play 1-2 no limit cash.

the last 3 times i went to the casino i won $350, $160 and $238

the time i won $160, i actually had bought in $100 bucks for a total of 4 times and LOST EVERYTHING down to my last 12$...i made a HUGE comeback and left with $560 total (true story!)

the time i won 238$ i was actually up $530 but stuck around like a fool and wound up losing $300 in a matter of 10 minutes...

anyway enough details, i KNOW that the skill is there because i usually win everytime i go to the casino, and i also win in house games alot too (took down $214 in the last house game we played)

now this might sound good (and it is) but the money is kind of slow :(...im looking to earn more money and 1-2 blinds are just not enough to do that..

so im thinking about playing 2-5 in a casino for the first time...basically im asking for advice from anyone who has played simliar stakes? what are the avergae bets/raises? how much should i buy in for? what should i expect in general?

im 21 years old and i dont make THAT much money...im not rich by any means and i cant just afford to throw cash around...i was thinking of buying in for the minimum (which i think is $300)...do you think i can do any damage with that?...i want to crack $1000 in one trip to the casino, thats my goal!!! the closest i ever came was about $700 on a 1-2 table, but i got REALLY LUCKY that night...

You better stick with 1-2 until u can develop the discipline not to give back your profit. By going higher, you will experience more volotility and tilt badly. What's wrong with steady small wins with less risk. don't be greedy. I play 2-5 and 5-10 NL and if you blink wrong your whole stack is gone. beware. Be the big fish in the small pond always. At 2-5, have at least 2k bankroll for the session.

hmm thats some good advice...maybe ill follow it

2k bankroll for 2-5? really? that seems like an awful lot

youre right though, i should continue being the big fish in the small pond even if its slow money...

my goal is to break 1k in a single trip though and thats very unlikely at a 1-2 table...

the other complaint i have is that i can lose my money just as quick in a 1-2 table then a 2-5 table

what are some of the raises like in 2-5??

for 1-2 the average raise it seems is around $25-35

yeah i would stick with 1/2. the 2/5 is a whoooole different animal. there is no reason why you cant make 1k at a 1/2 game. you need to be absolutely destroying people at the 1/2 before you move up imo. i play 1/2 a lot and i know that 2/5 would eat me alive, burp, and then ask for a toothpick. seriously. like rugby said, dont risk more than 10% of your bankroll. play the 1/2 nl, win some money, get up and leave. i know its tempting to sit there for hours on end, but the game will be there. you dont have to make it all in one shot. gl
