Let me tell you my background.

I've played online poker since the "Moneymaker Era" and at one point wanted to do this for a living. I've won tourneys at casinos in California, nothing major, anywhere from $500 to $2000. I won two mtts on pokerstars last year (plus one freeroll that paid out $100) for a total of almost $5,000. I cashed out most of the money because I have a wife and three kids. Even though some told me to keep it on there and build.

So last year I made deposits on PS and FT, $50 here and there. I would go above the BRM Rules and play $6 SNGs and $10 Mtts. I would go up and down and eventually go bust.

Now, I just deposited $50 on FT. I want to use proper BRM and build it to something special. I've heard stories about Durrr and others turning small amounts into millions. But what I see are bad beats and people making unreal calls and getting rewarded. It makes me question if I should even play online anymore, but Im giving it one last go. If I go busto using proper brm then im done putting money in online and will just play freerolls and never worry about it.

So what should I do? What cash game limits should I play, what sngs and mtts should I play. Ive heard a lot of people giving advice like this but what would be the best way to do it. I dont want to "get rich quick" I just want to see some sort of profit for the work im putting into this. I know it wont happen overnight, but I want to have good weeks.

Please give good positive feedback. :)

Thanks to all that help.

well the standard, no more than 5% of roll for cash games and 2.5% for sngs and mtts will work well for someone playing micros

Playing freerolls is a great way to add to your bank. If you are comfortable playing a $10 MTT with a $50 bank then play. If you are consistent at cashing in these then stick with it till your bank is at $500 before moving up. Use some of you bank to get tokens and satelites are good also. X

Reality check!

Yeah some really cool guys turn $1>$10k and all that.

Some average guy's can turn $100>$10k.

Now, here's the thing. You can do this.

Seriously, you can.

But you have to make some decisions now.

Decide what you gonna play, and have a plan.

MTT's/SNG's/CASH whatever. Now when you decide what you gonna play, at least have some idea on how to play that particular game. Don't think that you know it,, coz 99% of the time you know jack shit about it. So learn and research how to play.

Now you have some knowledge abouot how to play your particular varient of poker, decide some BRM rules.

You have to ask yourself some pretty critical questions here and be brutally honest with yourself. Is my $50 the be all and end all, if it is then I have to make sure I don't balls this up. So risk of ruin is paramount and I shall make sure I have lots of buy ins, yeah?

Then look at yourself and say 'do I have the patience' to practice BRM.

If the answer is no, then gamble away and keep reloading until you hit lucky.

Otherwise, keep it real, practise good BRM/study/practice and then you can have the $10k. It's totally achievable, but don't expect you can just touch lucky. Most of us have to work at it.
