Basically I'm putting a schedule in place aimed at improving and maintaining playing performance.
the idea behind this is to treat playing poker as any other competitive sport. you go training, you practice and you learn you prepare a strategy. Then you go into the game and you try to win.
This can be done week nights after work for any who plays part time, even an hour an evening you can choose whatever you want to work on.
I believe poker is no different. I also believe days away from playing poker and learning instead are a massive benifit, they leave you feeling focused and motivated with a fresh head re-boosted strategy knowledge and it allows you to re-consolidate what you already know as well as bringing more to your game.
My table looks like this, ''putting into consideration im working full time''
(90 minutes)Mondays will be analysing day. going over the weekend post tournament, and working on leaks and anywhere that was notably bad or below where I need to be
(Tuesday) Video tutorial strategy - My usual selection is gripsed or anything on youtube that offers something useful (i.e) to either refresh what I know or to learn something new. I focus on MTT's but adventually going to go back to cash and grind full time so anything is useful.
(wednesday) - More Videe tutorial and some research I'll spend time to take on board different piece of advice or recap something good I've read -
(Thursday) - Watch a recorded live game on youtube tournament I prefer to watch live tournament uploads as you get to see every hand., The EPT/wsop have hours of footage which is very useful. there are also hundreds of cash games.
(Friday) I will hop onto pokerstar's play a few MTT's and I will usually enter some big micro-medium, tournaments (this is my tournament fix day as ive gone usually a full week . If im to play live friday is the day il go or sunday.
(saturday) Saturday is sit n go day, this is really the day I like to focus and ensure my BRM correctly and Avoid any turbo's so I can maximise my profits and not end up tossing for my few quids worth.
I'l also enter satellites for the Sunday million, sit n go to the storm and before bed after my grind. I will watch 45 mins of high stakes online, and practice observing top players trying to find exploits and weak spots. (this is great practice to get into the habit of exploiting spots without worrying what hand you have)
(sunday) if I've satellited I'll play the sunday mill and the storm, otherwise just chill and take the day and evening off, family time etc.
So yeah , anyone looking to improve their game I feel could apply a similiar schedule to myself it doesnt have to be anything i've mentioned it can be any information you enjoy reading/watching, and working on anything you want to work on...
I'm pretty sure this time next year you will be heading upwards and onwards
