I made this thread because I my goal is to get a bankroll of $20,000 starting from $0 and not depositing at any poker rooms. The poker room that I am going to try and build my bankroll from is full tilt poker. I will update this thread very often with my daily progress.

Good luck with your goal. Others have done it - it can be done ... ;)

I have never deposited on any site and have BR's in progress on Stars and Tilt, plus a couple of other small ones from CC freeeroll wins.

I'm glad to see that you have chosen a particular site to build your bankroll on.

When I started out I was all over the place and had little bits here and there and was not really feeling like I was getting anywhere but since I have restricted myself to full tilt I am starting to see results.

That of course is just my opinion. Others might find that they fare better with multiple sites but 1 site def. helps me focus more

Good luck with your mission. :)

Pessimistic lol, but very true. Maybe this time will be different. Can't hurt to wish you luck, maybe you will do it.

I have been trying on cakepoker for about 1 year to build a roll from freeroll winnings and I can't do it. My best was getting up to $150, but a bad night in 1/2 NL (obviously not good BR management) put me back down to $0.

Unchosen, whatever you do, do not "own" any negative commentary about your goals. They are yours and if you believe that you can do it then go for it.

Do not allow people to judge you on the failure of others! At least you had the ballz to post the thread, which is more than I could say for myself as I wanted to do it a while back but feared exactly the reaction that you just got.

I wish you every bit of luck and success with this and look forward to coming back to this thread regularly to check on your progress as I know that there is nothing worse than someone pre-judging the outcome of your goals before you've even started!

I am going to be doing the same again shortly, I did it last year and got up to $250 and withdrew as I did not have the time to keep playing. Hopefully I can do the same this year!

in order to do something like that you gotta have patience. If you can do that then you might be the next pro.. Why? because to build up a nice bankroll of $20k from freerolls it will take you at least a year or 2 or 3 or 4.. By that time you should be playing really good (if you continue improving and working on your game).. good luck..

i dotn think hes only playing freerolls.. i think hes starting with $0 and once he places in a freeroll then play for money... but yeah either way hes a beast if he does it... thats insane cause i think the pro challenge is $8 to 10,000 in 6months

Tried it, failed, trying again. GOT ALL THE WAY to 500 dollars, and lost it in an hour or two. Horrible feeling. Don't make the same mistake. Cardschat has some great freerolls though, so make 1st place on one of those, and you're well on your way. I got second place in a freeroll with like 1400 people (1k freeroll) and took down 140 dollars (25 of those from a bounty), and took it to 500, and like I said, lost it all. Keep up the hard work. Let's see if one of us two makes it.

its a long way to go as long as your have pacience and persistence. and money management is very important.these instance of losing whole money in one hour or one night is lacking money management.i am still on that way of building bankroll from low.i hope may be five yeare or more.

I hope you aren't playing freerolls only. There is some cheap, soft stuff you can play with a bankroll of around $50 (using brm at this point)

No I am not just playing freerolls only. I will be entering buy-ins once I qualify for some money in freerolls.

Thanks everyone for the support. I have built a bankroll off freerolls in the past and cashed out once I received $1000. But this time my goal is much bigger.

I wonder how many others out there are experimenting with the same idea? I'm going to attempt the very same thing. Good luck!:)

I'm attempting the same thing Bob. Started about 5 weeks ago. I am still playing freerolls but have also started playing the .10c $1000 gtd almost every night - without rebuys and add ons.

I have also started playing the 90 person $1 +.25c sit & go's. They are quite nifty cos they pay 18 places and u start with a double stack. (Actually only got to bed at 8am this morning after playing one of them - placed 6th and got $4.95 for my $1.25 :) )

I also like the daily dollar - but not the rebuy one - the normal one lol.

So thats the strategy I'm using at the moment to build my BR.

I'm doing the same thing .
No deposit at all just free rolls. If you can't beat the free rollers how can you move higher?
Because I see a big similarity between the donk's play and the pro play as shown on TV.Talking about what kind of cards they are playing.
Let's see how it works. For now after 2 months I'm still at 0 winning but no problem I'll keep doing it till I build a serious bankroll.

 I wish all of you the best in building a bankroll from nothing!

A few suggestions that may be different than others have said.

I would NOT focus on 1 site, give yourself as many opportunitys for success as possible. If FT for example doesn't have a freeroll now but bodog does then jump in there at Bodog. The more chances you have the better in the long run!

If you happen to win some money,I would add 1$ tourneys to your arsenal of tourneys that you play.So what if you lose the few bucks,What you are trying to accomplish is to hit a good one to allow growth in your bankroll.
If you go Broke losing $3 you won so be it!Don't play scared.

I will give you an example,I signed up at Carbon poker through CC and got 2nd in a freeroll for $25,I then played an $11 buy in (CC money added) and won that making my roll around $135.My bankroll from all accounts allows me to make this jump and still be good bankroll management. The lesson I am trying to give is tourney poker can pay off handsomely. But you have to be willing to risk some of your freeroll winnings!

Once you get to $75-$150,I would add $2-$3 buy ins and around $250 I add $5 buy ins.

Do not get frustrated with lack of bankroll growth in the beginning. The experiance you get is going to be needed as you grow as a poker player.
Hang in there, when you do win your account can jump quickly.

I have a few other Ideas I will post later, this is getting pretty long for me.

Bodog does not accept Canadian players. But yeah I am playing freerolls at other poker rooms aswell but if I get winnings I am just going to transfer them over to full tilt when I get enough dollars.

This is backwards to what i am saying.I would keep money in other sites, so you can afford their cheap buy ins as an option to when full tilt does not have a tourney that fits your bankroll!

To each their own gl :D

Stick to it

Good Luck Unchosen. Just have patience during the FR stage.
I am sharing your mission as well. I'm not playing nearly enough to satisfy my goals, but I am currently workin F-Time finishing school at night F-time.
As soon as I finish my degree (end of summer) I'll start to hit the tables harder. In the meantime...

I agree with Snow. don't limit yourself to one site. You can have multiple sights up at the same time and enroll in as many FR's as you can. I have a small BR on Bodog because they gave me casino chips to play. I turned that into real $ poker BR. When I can, I'll play a FR on any site.

This is where I vacationed for 6 years until I figured out a way to move here! Awesome actually is an understatement!
