Bovada has been having log in issues for over two hours now and I am getting bored because this is my play zone. So I figured why not try to get the newbies thinking about poker in different ways.

Here are two questions

1. When getting a straight in poker, 1 of 2 card rankings MUST be present for the straight to occur. What are they?

2. What is the lowest hand in a flop game that you can flop and absolutely not be outdrawn?

Thinking about poker in different ways gives you more power at the table, you understand things just a little bit better.

First one is pretty straightforward...

All straights have either a five or a ten in them

As for the second one, that's interesting...

Had to think about this for a while, but it has to be a five-high straight flush doesn't it? With the proviso that your hand contains a blocker to your opponent getting a higher straight flush.

If you had Ac2C and the board was 3c4c5c you could be outdrawn. But if you had Ac5c and the board was 2c3c4c you couldn't be.

Even quad aces can always be outdrawn by a straight flush if villain is holding the right cards, as can anything below that.
