Anyone can win a few pots, but you are not a winner if you don`t win over the long term.
There is a lot of stuff here on CC about BR management, but the basics are very simple:
1) Never invest more than 5% of your Bankroll in any single Game or Tourney. (Exception - if you are really strapped for cash and 5% won`t buy in to the smallest game, stretch to 10% for ring games only.)
2) Don`t move up until your roll has grown enough to buy in to the next higher limit game on the same 5% basis.
3) If hit a downswing and your roll shrinks to less than 20 buyins, drop down a level until you recover.
4) When you have achieved success and built up a good bankroll so that you can comfortably play at a reasonable buyin, tighten up still further and limit yourself to 2% of your bankroll for tournaments. Tournament variance is higher, and this will ensure that any long dry spell does not do serious damage.
