if you won 250,000$ online would you quit your job and go pro? How would this win change your life? How many of you have this dream and are willing to chase it? How many of you in this forum are actual pros with no other job?

I think most of us share this dream, or one similar to this. My main goal is always to be able to do more for my children and grandchildren. Being in the south, I would want to participate in some of the events in the Mississippi and Louisiana areas, as well as playing a few events in Vegas and Cali, having grown up in California. I don't know how committed I would be to trying to participate in every event on the WPT or anything like that. I would definitely want to play more and bigger events.

What you would find, is that in the scheme of things $250,000 is not that much money, and certainly not something to quit your job over, unless you are going to become a full-time poker player :) Most people find a way to increase spending when they make more money....Even though a sum like 250K may seem like a lot, it goes fast.

While $250K is nothing to sneese at, it also isn't something to quit a job over. After taxes, that wouldn't even be enough BR to put yourself into the wsop Main event!

Invest half of it, donate a small amount, and have the rest as a new BR to play big events weekly.

Pretty sure I'm not going to win $250k unless Cardschat starts upping the 'cash-added' in the pokerstars Sunday $5 buyin :(
I'd be happy to get a 5-figure score online

I would only go pro, if I reached a level where I was crushing a certain game for a large sample size, and that the earnings per month were quite a bit higher than my current job.

honestly,id just spend it on gambling, alcohol, drugs and hookers it would be the greatest week in my life!!

Every time i play at the casino i question whether or not id be able to survive the week of partying id go through if i hit the bad beat jackpot.. haha funny you said this... But i have thought about this a million times lol with a solid plan too.. my plan is only for about a $140k bad beat tho.. Est.

$35k estimated Taxes
$20k for a car
$15k for rent for a year
$15k to pay debt student loans/ credit cards etc.
$6500 bankroll for 200nl live
$3500 bankroll for 100nl online
$45k gaining interest in a savings account

quit my job for a year and try to play poker full time.. its a fool proof plan

I'd use the whole 250k$ to buy a house, convert it into 2 flats and rent it. It would give me enough to pay for my mortgage and nearly all bills. (I live in the UK so I'd only need 150k£ which isjust under 250k$)

I probably would not quit my college even though I do not like what I do because $ 250k is not that much money, is a very good amount of course, but you can not live comfortably forever with only that money.

I'm already retired, so I'd play in a lot of low buy-in live tournaments. Maybe $50 and $100 buy- ins. And see how I do then move up from there if I did any good.

If I hit for $250k, I would do more of what I love to do: play poker. I would move up to a bigger game and hopefully make lots of money.
