If this does go through the government is going to put mandates on it a lot of cc players are going to hate. no more huds like pt3 or hem, they want a level playing ground casino style, in the same manner. What do you think about this and th affect its going to have on ur game, especially individuals who have become reliant on it.

Umm... I don't think they could really banish those. I mean some idiots still think it's cool to use the poker robots that play for you. and Full Tilt and other sites are still trying to find a way to block those programs.

IMO... PT3 and HEM are here for life.

I don't use any computer programs like pt3 or hem. I have been able to win at poker. So i guess it would only help my game due to others not being able to use it. However, highly unlikely in my mind that this would happen.

Yep need link to bill

I'm guessing he means the bill to legalize online poker that was introduced by Barney Frank (google it). They would tax it and regulate it. And by regulating it, would probably ban pt3 and the hems. But I haven't heard that specifically.

So far the bill has been introduced and has had a ton of co-signers, but Frank hasn't even brought it up for a vote within his committee that he chairs, so it could still be until later this year before anything happens with it. Plus even if it gets through committee and get through the full House, you'd still need it to pass the Senate and President Obama would have to sign it.

All that may or may not happen this year.

I would love to see all poker devices banned. I would want online poker to be as close to the game we all fell in love with watching on television. I would also like to see a real time deck shuffle instead of an rng that "changes it's mind" depending on mouse action etc etc.Of course I am not aware of any security concerns which may or may not result in a more realistic approach to dealing.

.

Until OP provides a link that states a planned proposal for HEM and PT3 then I think OP has basically got the wrong end of the stick.

So links please.

I would be intrigued to see how the US legislature could enforce any such controls, given that the online poker rooms are not within their jurisdiction, and neither are most of the players.

They haven`t been very successful so far even in the lesser goal of stopping American citizens from doing business with poker sites, as is borne out by the large number of American CCers who play every day, with only minor inconvenience over deposits and withdrawals.

If the bill passes, online poker rooms will be allowed to operate from the U.S. Since they will be operating from the U.S., they will be audited and regulated. I'm sure the current poker rooms won't be forced to but it will kill their business if they don't. Think about it - if you were a novice player, would you give your business to an unregulated poker room, possibley operating from a 3rd world country or would you give your business to one in which is regulated and controlled like most real casinos?

Which brings us to the weird contradiction of UIGEA. Very many of the world`s online poker rooms are already controlled and regulated in the EU. Hence the great swathe of poker sites which, when UIGEA was passed, promptly banned American players. Being regulated, they cannot engage in law-breaking.

Therefore, bizarrely, UIGEA has resulted in American players being unable to play on regulated sites and they can only use those which are uncontrolled by any major First-World government.

Clearly, this law was written in haste by people who didn`t understand the industry. One can only hope, for the sake of our American members, that they do better next time.

What has this to do with banning HEM and PT3, which was the OP's point?

I think if the sites wanted to get rid of them they could....but hey it's all about the money and even to play with a bot you have to PAY. It would be a simple thing for the sites to send a request for an answer to a ? or a type the number/letter in 20 seconds to players at random...if they don't do it..POOF they are gone.

Who mentioned Bots?

WTF.. we start with the OP saying that a proposed bill would outlaw HEM and PT3 (even though we can find no reference to this) and now someone is talking about bots.

I think we are 3 posts away from a merge with the rigged thread

This.
Sites that ban US players are regulated by the EU(in most cases the sites are based in the UK).
Sites that allow US players are from gibraltar, the bahamas or on a Indian reservation in canada and basicly make up there on rules.

Hence the US laws are extremely stupid.
But im not complaining it just means us euros can get alot better rackback and bonuses :D.

What I believe will happen is that the poker rooms that will operate from within the U.S. will be forced to have rules that prohibit the use of certain programs. Now just b/c the rules are in place does not mean they have the ability to enforce them. I think it's going to be a huge "gray" area - if it ever reaches that point.
