I seem to tilt when I win.

It usually starts with a really good run of cards, good bets, or weak opponents. But it leads to a snowball effect of rolling and building aggression that eventually peaks financially and ends up continuing on into a sort of tilt where I feel like I'm playing the same but all of a sudden I'm losing. Is this a case of table image abuse by me or what?

It's called euphoria, a feeling of invincibility. It's often more dangerous than the more negative kind of tilt, for obvious reasons.

I tilt when I lose. When I win i tighten up usually and try to keep my winnings.
Best thing to do when your on tilt is A) take a break B) get up and get a drink (pref. alcoholic) or C) Get laid.

Over confidence. This is when I start calling and playing way more aggressive, cause i'm the shit now. Then there goes your month's worth of hard work.

I'm the same i win i get cocky and lose it all. Simple as.

But i find that when i win. If i get up and walk around the house for a bit it seems to sort it out.

wins

When I win,its usually when I feel good, rested up,and not hungry, lol. Also when I win its because I play consistant and not too worried if I lose.So there is alot to a players mood/well being/and concentration.

In live poker I've gotten the same feeling. The times I've done the best are when I ride it out. The trick is stopping :)

I'll make some aggressive moves and they get paid off. Then I'll keep pounding the limpers from position. If that works I'll extend what I consider "in position". I've had this go all the way to UTG + 2. Admittedly that was an extremely weak table and I had a couple of sheriffs get broken when I made my draws...

Basically I keep telling myself "I'll keep raising with any connectors until someone tells me I can't". This is live poker. As your aggressive wins go up the confidence you express also goes up. You play solid (not donk poker) but very aggressive raises and never let the limpers play when you're in position. Eventually your run will cool off and you go back to normal hand selection. You lose a few hands detecting it, but if you've run the table a couple of times you're still WAY in the positive.

DON'T try and push right back into that zone (TILT!) and DON'T try and create that scenario. Learn to detect when that kind of run has started and ride it out.

Online is different (for me anyway). The faceless nature means people will donk up too frequently to make a real run happen.

Thanks Alrood

That's real, what you said about knowing when my rush is over is good advice.

Yeah, but its hard to let go. When you've been catching cards and flopping monsters for a long time then when it all suddenly dries up its too easy to think you're still ahead, call huge bets with top pair or something and go back into the red. My last couple of live sessions I started out great flopped about 3 full houses in my first 10 hands and got paid off every time by guys with straights and trips, then I'd feel invincible and more or less throw it all away. Then the session just turned into me trying to break even, which I did - the first time. The second time I actually managed to make a monster profit because, on my third buy in, I stuck it out til about 5am, the table was soooo loose and I got reraised all in by a big stack with 2nd pair and a straight draw when I had a set. That was nice :)

But like Waldorood said, knowing when my rush was over would have made it a much more profitable night overall.

I do the exact same thing when winning too. I asked a friend who who wins consistently too what he does in this situation and he said, he continues to play in exactly the way he had been playing from the beginning.

I think what overwhelms those of us that do this is the size of the blinds. I seem to be able to handle it when it's small but when it's big a rush I don't comprehend just comes.

the thing is you're not really on tilt when you are winning. You said it yourself, eventually you get aggressive and start losing, so the tilt is from losing AFTER winning.

good runs...turn bad

I know the feeling...one week every decision I make works in my favor...the next week I lose cause I just KNOW that I have the best hand! And I am wrong every time!
