The following is “why” I like the Double or Nothing (Turbo) SnGs on Poker Stars and consider them to be the very easiest way to build your Poker Bank Roll without much risk and without it taking much time to play.
Usually, it will take on average about 25-35 minutes to play one of these and about 6-7 hands played to win. I usually play 2 to 3 consecutively to prevent boredom. At this setting, I won 9 out of 11 played.
Do any of you play these? What are your thoughts on the DoN Tournaments and how do you play them?
BTW, there are different levels of buy-ins and as low as $1, but I usually play/like the $5 and $10 buy-ins (low rake). Good Luck all.
My best, Wally

I like the turbos because if you playing a 20$ one then your saving about 1$ on your entry fee.

I love the DON's on Stars...I usually do the turbo rounds more than the others...I've won 5 of 6 so far. I only do one at a time though, but every bit helps!:D

I'm not sure if Fulltilt has them or not...i searched for them, but was unable to find anything like it there. I do know that Carbon poker has the same thing...I believe they're called Double-ups! I'll see if I can find out more for you about FT! MM:)

I think there boring and take the fun out of poker. Yea there profitable but in the long run I think they might hurt your game a lot. I know I played strictly don's for about a month around a year ago and my bankroll did very well but my game didn't progress at all, in fact in may have gotten worst.

I checked with someone else that plays at Fulltilt regularly...nothing available like that there. I did send an e-mail to FT about it, but haven't heard anything but an automated answer that they would get back to me! MM:)

Closest FTp has is the 6 person SnG. Two out of the six get paid. They run most of the time fairly fast and little loose for the $1.00 and $2.00 tables. Closest I have seen on FTP to pokerstars Double or Nothing's.

I tend to find them a bit boring, but fairly easy. When my PS bankroll needs a boost, I play these. I play few hands, mostly premium, and once I get a big stack, I sit on it.

When these things started, they were donkfests. No longer. It can take up to an hour to complete with a careful group of players.

I play poker more for fun than for money. (Good thing, that!) The jockeying for survival in DONs is not particularly entertaining. Not as fun as a satellite. And I don't really feel like a "winner" at the end. Someone else makes a mistake and boom, it's over. But if I only wanted to make money and that was all, these would be high on my list of games to play.

While my sample size is under 100 DoNs, which is obviously small, and all regular rather than turbo, the question that has come up is whether they're worth playing instead of something else. I'm ahead, but my win rate per hour is substantially lower than for anything else. To bring it up to the same level, I'd have to play a couple of levels higher than usual, win a percentage that's unrealistic, or some combination of these factors.

But that's just to match. Why bother unless I can expect to make more?

NO, Fulltilt does not have these...also, made me realize how much more RAKE FullTilt charges for same buy-in level on PokerStars. I like the 0.40 rake on $10 DoN Turbo and 0.20 on the $5 DoN Turbo.

I play a minimum of two at a time to prevent bordom, maybe 3 can work too. Of course, there are those that can play 20 - 25 at a time, but I cannot conceive such an idea...I do believe them, but 4 is my max.
